To install windows xp on a external portable HD that runs only on one usb. (no ac adapter) [WD passport in fact]

I have a 160gb MBP (newest one) and a 160gb external hd.

The point is to keep my machine clear of windows as much as possible... lol

Oh by the way, yes i can (using super duper for OS X) boot from the usb external hd. Thx

EDIT:
ok windows dont boot from external usb. but i have another question ...

i've been thinking of doing something similar.
In order to get WinXP to boot up through USB you need to follow this in order to create a copy of Windows that starts up those USB drivers quick enough for bootup.

I've been thinking of installing WinXP onto the passport. however, i have no intensions of installing OS X, and then bootcamp, and then WinXP. Is this possible? I don't have access to a PC laptop with a sata drive to do this, only my macbook.

is this what i need to follow?

and just to clarify, once i have WinXP on the external, i no longer need a bootcamp partition in order to boot to the external, correct?
