With the upcoming release of 1.1.3 I'm wondering if this would work. I really hate the default iPhone dock, so what I would like to do is restore to 1.1.1 then use conceiteds jar file to boot from recovery and install ssh. Then change the iPhone plists to do the reflective dock then update to 1.1.2. Does this seem like it would work? Does anyone have any easier was to install ssh and not really jailbreak it. I just really want to change the dock and 1.1.3 will break my apps which I can wait until February for.

I think that currently the only way to install apps is by jailbraking your iPhone (only apple iPhone developers could do it natively).
Also I believe that right now the 3rd party apps developers haven't play with 1.1.3 to answer your questions based on real facts.
We could only speculate right now with the info available.

Your method is very jumbled, and you're missing some steps.

You need to downgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak, install OKtoPrep, upgrade to 1.1.2, then use the jailbreak.jar file to carry the jailbreak to 1.1.2. (at which point you may install SSH if you please)

You can't just install SSH, it doesn't work that way. And the iPhone must be jailbroken as long as you want a dock different than the stock one, or if you want anything different for that matter.

You don't understand, you need jailbreaking to do everything. You cannot do anything in the phone if you do not jailbreak it. Just jailbreak and do everything the common way, you'll be fine.

i realize that my question was not very clear and didn't ask what i really meant. the issue really wouldn't be known until 1.1.3 is released. what i should have asked is that on the videos gearlive made it shows that the carrier hack name is still present. in theory if i jailbreak my iphone and change to dock to be like the ipod touch dock is this a change that would stay also since it's the "same" plist file name just the info is different. i guess i should have thought this question out more.

Again, nope. Only the carrier image, and the ringtone carry over during an update...

Not if the plist file you changed is overwritten by the update. See above.
