lets say the rumored LTPO backplane to be more power efficient to accommodate 120hz, comes at the expense of contrast. Upwards of 20% (just making up a number, may not even be the case at all)

would you be willing to forego OLED contrast for smoother motion?

keep in mind this may not be the situation, I am just curious how people prioritize a faster display

Nope. Refresh rate is not a priority over color, contrast, brightness. When it comes, I’ll welcome it... but it’s not necessary, especially if they cannot control the battery drain alongside 5G for when 5G is widespread. I’m happy to wait until they can do it without sacrificing the current battery quality.

NO CHANCE!!!!

Don't touch my oled contrast goodness, I'd consider it if Tim Cook says it's good for the environment. 😂

Having had two generations of the 120hz iPad pro now, I still find it disappointing when I go back to my MBP or iPhone. I hadn't really appreciated what a difference it made until I used it; it really feels like I'm connected to the screen, and not just moving the screen.

Hard to describe, and hard to imagine without seeing it in person. I love the OLED screen on the iPhones, but I would give that up for the 120Hz. Ideally, we won't have to make a choice with the next-gen of phones.

OLED over 120hz every time. I love the screen on the iPhone, I was so glad when the X was announced with OLED. I'd been waiting for Apple to switch to OLED for ages. I always preferred Android hardware because of OLED. Now I can have the best of both worlds!

Not for me, no. I honestly don't even care for high refresh rates. I would be very annoyed if they had to mess with contrast, brightness, etc.

To answer yes to this question means you prioritize the movement of content over the content itself, which taken to its logical conclusion means you essentially have the attention span of a newborn kitten. Not that there’s anything wrong with that...

...taken to its logical conclusion...

I see the difference big time from my old ipad pro 10.9 to the new 11 pro on how smooth the 120 is. Comparing my 12 pro to the new ipad I don't see much difference. Maybe because its not so necessary on a small device. Is it really needed? Seems very smoot to me.

I’ve probably said this a million times, myself. 120Hz is a lot more noticeable on a big screen, but just doesn’t justify the hit to battery life on anything smaller than a phablet, in my so-unimpeachable-it’s-basically-a-fact opinion.

Absolutely! I think Apple's LCD displays are fantastic, and OLED is a pain in the a** because of the eye strain caused by the flicker for some people. Give me an LCD with 120Hz ProMotion and I will be happy as a clam!

Coming from an iPhone 11 I hardly notice a difference. The black levels really only useful for watching videos. I’m not scrolling like a maniac or reading large bodies of text like I would on my iPad, so I don’t need it on my phone.

I could live without either if I’m totally honest. My iPhone 12 supposedly has a better screen than the 8 Plus I had before it, but can’t really tell the difference. In regards to 120Hz Promotion, not bothered at all.

I never notice ProMotion on my iPad Pro, unless i really look for it.
So it seems to be pretty useless for me.

It’s pretty simple for me. Oled over 120hz. At least with oled I can save battery with dark mode while 120hz steals battery just so you can get your little thrill from scrolling faster with no productive advantage. If you showed your friends the way you can scroll your screen faster with 120 they would look at you as a window licker. I would.
