If Apple offered a camera-less MacBook Pro, even for a little extra, would you buy it? I don’t use the camera on the MacBook for anything — if I’m on a FaceTime video call, it’s easier just to use my iPhone, or I can use Continuity Camera on my Mac. I just think an uninterrupted screen would be worth the small amount of convenience lost (which for me would be nothing). What do you think?

Would buy it if the price was the same or lower. I never use the camera either.

Why do you need to see others during a remote meeting? Do feel it increases productivity? Other than screen sharing, I only engage in audio meetings — I can focus on the words spoken and nothing else. I’m curious if I’m in the minority with this.

There are plenty of good quality studies that show ‘cameras on’ improve the quality of interpersonal connection - so many more cues that help us understand what others may be thinking/feeling. Not universal, and audio only (on a Friday evening at the end of a busy week full of remote meetings for eg) is also a valid choice - but as someone who spends over 50% of my working week meeting (coach/facilitator/consultant, often remote), cameras on is the default, and I would really miss my camera on my laptop.

yes, we have iPods, iPhones and watches to get or access photos and cams.
I used my camera on the MBA only once this year.
