If you could run OS X on any hardware (legally) would you keep your MB(P)? I don't think anything can match the 17"MBP, but for ultra portables I think a Sony TX is cool.
I most certainly would. There is not a notebook on the market that has the style and design of the 17'' MBP. Plus, the whole aluminum casing thing is super sexy!
I may only have a macbook, but of course I would keep it! It's so small and portable, and I'm on the go alot, so it really comes in handy. I'd also be surprised to see too many people on this site say that they wouldn't.
MacBook Pro's too expensive, i could get a computer from Dell or Alienware w/ 512mb GeForce 7950 GTX or dual 256/512 SLI cards for the same price(after buying OS and iLife.
If I could put OS X on any new computer system I purchased:
1) I would buy a MacBook if I was in the market for one. They're nice laptops and the price is pretty good, as is the overall quality
2) I would look at the MBP and also shop around and look at other brands. It's slightly more expensive than it should be, although to tell you the truth, people who say that the MBP is a ripoff compared to what they get from other companies is exaggerating a bit. People complain about the graphics card in the MBP, but there aren't many laptop graphics cards better than the one in the MBP. The entire market is moving very slow right now, so the mobile graphics card that was high-end 1 year ago hasn't fallen too far behind.
I would stick with the same hardware simply because if you're looking for the best support for notebooks, Apple's and Thinkpads have the best support in the industry, however I would probably give Apple the edge simply because you can walk into the Apple store to get it. Plus, I really like that Apple is a much more consumer oriented company than most out there.
