The iTunes Store still has ratings/reviews but nothing similar exists on Apple Music. I think it would be cool if the Music app allowed for ratings at least. Especially for new music. Is there a reason it doesn’t? Would it be too easy to spam/too difficult to moderate?

Music is far too subjective so it would be pointless honestly. There are already “professional” reviewers for each genre which is essential to form a well rounded opinion.

Why would anyone rely on ratings for Music?

That’s probably one of the most subjective-broadened categories ever in terms of what somebody likes or dislikes that shouldn’t influence anyone because of how variable it is depending on what we like.

If there was ever one category that is so subjective that will never have a consistent stance, it would be music. Food would probably be next in that category slot that you can’t really ‘rate’, because it’s so variable based on personal preference.

Not ratings, but they should bring back the popularity bars from iTunes rather than just marking the one or two most popular tracks on an album.

Better than a rating system would be a wider ecosystem of music curators. At the very least, give curators a section where they’re discoverable rather than having to know and search for them individually, and allow you to subscribe to them.

For the love of what is holy, why can't we enjoy something without having to process the general zeitgeist/gesetz ?

Not in the slightest bit interested in what anyone else thinks about music.

I don’t need any affirmation from anyone else to reassure me that my choices are ok

As has also been mentioned, music is too personal as well. I’m not going to give any credence to someone else’s opinion.

I just want to listen to music and not have to deal with clutter and junk from other listeners at all.

Oh I disagree. Lots of people go to rotten tomatoes or places like that to get film/tv reviews. If I saw a new album release by an artist had 5 stars I might be more willing to check it out. Though I guess if it was spammed by an artists fan base then the ratings would probably be worthless.

Yeah I like that idea.

Having ratings wouldn’t prevent anyone from liking what they like. But for people who don’t keep up with new music seeing something highly rated might make you more inclined to check it out.

Ratings would be of no use to me.

What I would like to see is a proper equaliser in Apple Music though. The current one is absolute garbage when you compare it to Spotify.
