I can eventually see AI features becoming a MUST have. Heck the free story writing it does now for me is game changing. But what could Apple AI do on a Mac Mini for $20 a month I feel like Apple is roping people in with the Mac Mini.

No, there are plenty of AI tool options out there. I really hope Apple doesn't focus too much on AI at the expense of its actual product development.

It would need a killer feature. And I mean killer.

I’m struggling to imagine what this could possibly be, given that ‘AI’ isn’t really exciting technology and only serves to be a tool occasionally. And as for generative technology, it’s literally just learning from patterns.

So no I wouldn’t pay for any AI service from any company right now. I’m glad that Apple has taken a more cautious approach and made the features more useful, even if they are reigning it back compared to other companies.

Apple is very graphic but its AI is not. I will wait until it matches Grammarly, then see what else it can do.

I think Apple should have to pay me $20 a month to suffer Apple Intelligence on my devices.

Not yet I would not. I know it is really basic so far, but don’t see any advantage to the current Apple AI. On latest Beta too.

If you have a lot of writing to do, it could be worth it. Even today, here's the result of me asking Siri/ChatGPT to write a change management request by saying "write me a change management request to install bitlocker management tools on our domain controllers"

.... there's a lot more not pictured that needed to be scrolled to see.

Basically what I wanted, would have taken me 15-30 minutes or more to write up, AI did it for me in seconds. Took me a minute or two to proofread and adjust.

$20/month is peanuts if it saves me 1/2 hr per day, and it would be possible to save much more than that.

Work smarter, not harder.

That said, LMstudio with llama 3.3 also did a pretty good job and that runs locally but needs a heap of RAM.:

Also wrote me some code, lol. I can write the code too, but getting an LLM to do it and then quickly proof read it is faster.

Heck no.

It does so much worse than Gemini in real world tasks. I'd pay Google since their model is far superior. No way I'd pay Apple for their GPT wrapper.

I'd pay 20$/month to _ get rid _ of generative AI and all its sub-products from all my devices.
