Hi, I am one of the most unlucky people about apple products. My 2019 macbook pro has been changed 3 times till now and the 4th one has come yesterday. There is backlight bleeding on the right-up of the screen. You can see in the picture which is taken in fully dark room. Would you replace this because of this?

Another point, "the 2019 macbook pro owners" may i ask you to add similar photos which is taken in same conditions like black background and fully dark room to compare. I will be very happy if you help about this

note: there are some ips glows and i know the difference between ips glow and backlight bleeding, the location of bleeding 3-4 cm middle from right up corner.

That would drive me crazy... it'd be going back for sure and i'd make the store open the next one in front of me to inspect before I took it home.

You have the brightness turned all the way up, and you are in a dark room with a dark screen. I suspect many, if not all, computers under these conditions would display similar characteristics.

Why not use the computer under normal conditions and determine whether or not there is a problem; my guess is that you will not.

Turn the brightness down to a normal level, and watch a movie with a dark background or night scene. If you do not see bleed there, I would suggest you keep the computer, or, you could continue to look for perfection, which doesn’t exist, and just frustrate yourself.

All this said, I can tell from your post that this really bothers you, so just return it and see if you get something you like better.. play the MacBook Pro lottery. Given the number of returns you have had thus far; I am guessing you may not be satisfied.

I would, Apple has long promoted their computers as premium and superior. Add in that they also charge a premium price. If its not perfect, then definitely send it back.

IPS panels are notoriously bad for light bleed and uneven backlighting, your chances of getting one significantly better are quite slim to begin with, and given these computer's other issues, I'd be really certain you can't live with it before entering onto that potential merry-go round if I were you.

Not all, but it is very common for the IPS-panels. However in my 13" Pro 2019 1.4 model it is perfect, no backlight bleed at all, I was very amazed when I got it as I was already prepared to get something similar to my desktop Dell IPS-monitor that I replaced 5 times with only getting screens from terrible to absolutely horrible (it has light leak like in the first post of this thread but in almost all corners!).

Anyway, that will only show up if using the monitor is dim room but surely can be seen with almost any darker image. I use my desktop in well lit room, so I gave up and just settled with that as service center did not give much hope for the better.

Anyway for the price we pay for these Apples, I'd expect screens without flaws.

This is the 4th one that i unboxed and every single one had different problem, i really do not know what to do if the 5th one comes with another problem or same problem as well because the 3rd one has dead pixel and also backlight bleeding too. This is a lottery and i am very tired:(

Honestly, the backlight bleed doesn't seem so bad. I think if you're searching for one with no backlight bleed, you won't ever be happy.

Things that might annoy you though is:
  • Heavily noticeable while watching like a movie
  • Backlight bleed actually affecting screen uniformity in terms of colors (one side of the screen is red, other is yellow for example)
So YMMV.

Yes, returned an iPhone after repair for this. Fixed for free. It annoyed me there, and would drive me mad on my laptop!

Unfortunately based in my recent ongoing experience that is a common issue. I am going on the fourth 15" 2019 trying to find a panel that is as good as my original 2018 15".

I have a theory that those Aluminum lids are so thin and bendable there is very little room for error and any small fraction of flex or pressure would cause some sort of screen blacklight unbalance. You can test the balancing of light a little by flexing one side or the other on the lid. But I could be wrong.

Also as good as it gets screens do in fact exist. My 2018 15" was spot on, during boot I never noticed any corners or sides brighter than the others and it was evenly lit as I recall, similar to what you would see on normal retina iPad or iPhone LCD panel. I wish my 2018 15" didn't develop signs of antiglare coating peeling off, and now I am stuck playing the panel lottery again, and I hate it.

I am posting some photos for comparison. I know it looks grey but that's actually a black background overexposed by my LG G8 camera.

The last one is more or less what it looks like on whites.

ps: Every unit including all 3 right out of the box had cosmetic defects as well. All had micro dents, and first one had warped Botton lid sagging on one corner. Not impressed with Apple's QC at all.

Were micro dents on USB c ports?

To be honest, unless something like that presents itself in normal use, I'd probably not even be aware of it.

Only you can answer to be honest - if you're not happy you should return it. But I guess just be aware that maybe its within the acceptable tolerances for the display (or its a limitation of the technology) rather than it being a fault as such.
