Yes. I was an iPhone fanboy, and then my wife got given a Samsung S7 by her work, and the quality of the camera blew me away, especially in low light (as you mention). So when it comes time to upgrade, I'll be getting an S8+.

The portrait mode on the 7 Plus is enough reason for me to stay with the iPhone camera. It's that good and some pictures really feel like they were taken by a DSLR.

The iphone 7 made enormous improvements to low light. The iPhone 6s is far inferior in low light.

The 2017 iPhone will decimate all other cameras in smartphones. Not just in image quality and true-to-life accuracy in color, but also in bokeh and AR capabilities. The only place it may still lag behind is in auto-focus speed, but let's hope Apple has something for that this year. If not this year, then next year when they add an infrared 3D sensor array on the rear of the device you'll see instantaneous auto-focus due to immediate and perfect depth perception.

This is gonna sound dumb, but the most I use my camera for is probably snapchat, and the last time I used Android it was still ******. The S6 took pretty good pictures on its own, I don't mind the "fake" colors, but on snapchat it looked terrible. I think I would rather deal with a slightly inferior camera than with Android though. Android phones are something I wouldn't mind having as a tinker device, but I'm not really interested in using them as a daily.

That should get far better in the iPhone 8 as well, due to OIS in both sensors and the sensors spread about 1/8-1/4" further apart due to placing the flash in between them.

Then you will like the iPhone 8 because it seemingly will take selfies that are just absurdly good. Multiple camera sensors and 3D sensors. It will definitely take bokeh selfies too

7 plus comparing to those top 4 android are still way behind. The sensor size and pixel size are just too different.

"Way behind" is a bit of an exaggeration. The S8 is a good 7 months newer than the iPhone 7, so maybe compare it to this years' iPhone. And Samsung phones have awful quality front facing cameras.

Even though I think the S8 is a very good looking phone, the lack of security updates on Android bothers me and would prevent me from changing unless they radically changed their software distribution model to eradicate fragmentation.

People always seem to make these claims that camera A is so much better than camera B, but who really notices except those taking the pictures and blowing them up? I like to think my usage/opinion is similar to the general masses in this case, and I honestly can't tell the difference between most cameras anymore. Samsung goes a bit crazy with the saturation, but that's really the only thing I notice.

Again, I have seen some differences when the reviews take a picture, and zoom in x amount. But who actually does that?

The different is too big at night. No need to zoom to tell.

Sure, the Pixel looks great at night, but you will only notice that if you and your friend literally take the same picture next to each other. To me the iPhone looked fine, the Pixel looked brighter and better in some pictures. Night pictures still look "meh" either way, it's just a limitation in general. This isn't something that would sway me to get a Pixel (if you can even find one).

Keep in mind these are my personal opinions and based on my experiences. The content of the pictures is generally more important than whether it is the best or second best in terms of quality.

Honestly, I enjoy the iOS experience too much to ditch the 7+.

I've owned a couple of flagship samsung phones, and a nexus 5 when it released, as well as a google tablet and I just can't get into them as much as I used to.

I was an apple hater for the longest when they only had the 4" form factor, switched over when the 6s was released and I've never looked back since. Even though my Note 5 shot better images and had a much more beautiful display, I really started to notice the touchwiz lag and it would really bother me.

I'm a fan of bone stock android, but currently I'm very happy with imessage and iOS in general. The 7+ has a good enough camera for me.

The fact is, the iPhone 7 takes great pics. And I would not swap it for what I consider an inferior phone. All the top phones take good pictures, the difference is negligible (for the main camera, like I said samsungs front cameras are awful)

My former Pixel takes noticeably better pictures and my wifes iPhone 7 particularly when the light gets weird.

I've owned the S8+ and I detest the fake, smooth look the front facing camera gives you. Was the same on the Note 7.

So I'm not going to waste my time watching videos online. Are you one of those that has to be right all the time?

And I prefer the way S8+ does their cameras.

Different strokes for different folks.

No I won't. Phone cameras are generally not very great, even if they are useful sometimes. For me,the phone camera is not that important,so I guess I keep my present devices.
