Phones Would you upgrade from the Note 4 to the Nexus 6P?

The 6P is probably the only phone I would buy and make me leave my Note 4, but spec-wise they're very similar:

3GB RAM (although TouchWiz takes a lot I haven't had any multitasking issues so far), 5.7 AMOLED QHD screen (probably the one in the Note 4 is better since the one in the Nexus 6 was worst), fingerprint scanner (is it really better having it on the back of the phone? Seems very uncomfortable for everyday use to me), big enough battery on both, Android 6.0 isn't that big of a deal to me (apart from automatic app data backup and restore) and the Note 4 will eventually get it, Snapdragon 805 on the Note 4 is still plenty fast and I'm on 5.1.1 and the phone is super fluid and fast), thanks to the microSD slot I have 64 GB + 32GB of onboard storage so that saves me a lot of money of I had to go for the 6P 64GB or 128GB, and lastly I believe the 16Mpx OIS camera on the Note 4 should be better than the one on the new Nexus.

Also, the Note 4 has great build quality, a stylus, multiwindow and the ability to swap batteries on the go or change one in the future if it fails or degrades.

If Android 6.0 had more amazing new features then it would make it more appealing to me to buy the 6P, but I'm thinking maybe I should buy the next Nexus phone next year, hopefully if Android 7.0 or whatever is called is a better update.

Also, as you can see, most of the hardware is similar to the Note 4, which cost me 360€ second hand, whereas the new Nexus 6P 64GB is 699€ I think!! And who knows how battery and camera performance will be.

I dont know how accurate dxo is but they claim the new Nexus camera is 2nd best just behind the new Note/Galaxy camera. It probably wouldnt be a worthwhile upgrade as the Note 4 is an amazing device and its camera is really good as well. Note 4 also has micro sd but the downside is all the bs bloatware. From a Note 3, sure thing but not a 4

Naw. I think the Note 4/5 are on different levels than the Nexus 6P. Stock Android is nice and all but you may miss the productivity of the Note. As much as I dislike to admit it, the whole timely updates things is overrated on the Android side. Google takes its time patching just about everything. By time they fix it, someone on XDA has already figured it out. If only Google cared about updates like Apple...

That's a hard call. Note 4 is an excellent device, I had no problems with it and I passed it on to my mother who also has no issues. Screen is a close second to the Galaxy devices released this year.

$650 for 128gb is very attractive for a smartphone of that quality. I'm not feeling the fingerprint sensor on the back, but it's not like Nexus has a physical home button to work with.

I wanna see the screen in person. The Nexus 6 has the worst QHD screen I've see on a smartphone. Hopefully they made it better this time.

The great thing with Samsung Galaxy Note devices is they are built to compete with the following year's flagship competitors, so the Note 4 does a great job of holding its own even with the Note5 out.

Very few devices match the Note 4's HW prowess, but if stock Android is what you want then the 6P is the very best bet.

My only issue with the 6P is the Snapdragon 810 CPU possibly overheating and causing poor battery life and the Display being a step backward from the Note 4's.

The 810 2.1 fixes the overheating.

It's hard to justify on just a mere pricing basis, but essentially I would just say 'if you can afford it, and want it, then get it".

You got a great saving initially on your Note 4 that even if you sold it for €100 less at €260 it means you got a good few months use out of it for next to nothing.

Yeah, that's true, but I would still have to spend around 350€-400€ for the 64GB model. My only concerns are the display (like someone before said, the Nexus 6 QHD AMOLED display was horrible compared to the Note 4) and camera (being lower megapixel and Samsung always make great phone cameras) and battery performance.

I'll probably decide when user reviews about battery and screen come out.

Have to agree with most here--other than a desire to have stock Android and more frequent updates, don't see the 6P as an upgrade from the Note 4 at all.
