Apple Intelligence will come to devices with an on-device LLM. This would be really useful for creating shortcuts on the Shortcuts app, where if a non tech-savvy person wants to run a task on their devices regularly, the LLM could generate a shortcut and explain what it does and how to use it. I could also suggest or offer to create them if it thinks it might be useful, depending on the conversation.

Yes, that might be a useful function to use Siri for. Not sure if it is in their immediate plans but I could see it coming eventually. The rumors say that the Siri integration of App Intents will happen after the start of the year. That is when it gains better app integration. The App Intents framework was designed for Shortcuts and is used to let Shortcuts interact with apps. It seems that Siri and Shortcuts are on a parallel course.

This has been among the more persistent rumors. My suspicion is that it will come next year. The more mainstream features need to be buttoned down first.

Eventually, I think all of this stuff will merge into an “Ask Siri to do something and it will get done” functionality that spans the new Apple Intelligence features and traditional shortcuts. Shortcuts would then be just a way to capture the “recipe” for a particular action set with perhaps a more accessible approach UI so that the average user can use it more simply than today.
