wow for imac 20

Hi i am looking to get a new computer probly a imac 20 screen.

my main issue is how will it run wow fps with medium setting i am looking to get above 60fps all the time will this happen in raid's northland ect?

That sounds fine, buy some ram from somewhere else. And possibly invest in a dictionary

Sorry to be so rude, there is "cute" and then there is absolutely confusing. iThink you should be fine, I would recommend getting a third party ram upgrade just to be safe, but in terms of processor and video card you are fine. I would just bump the ram up to 4GB, no need given your uses to go to 8.

ya i am not going to upgrade to 8gb i will probly just upgrade to 4GB

The 9400M isn't going to give you 60fps in WoW. If you want 60fps in raid zones in the latest expansion, then you should spring for the Radeon 4850 upgrade option.

Agreed. Although the 9400M is a solid card and definite improvement from the Intel GMA, you can't really push games including WoW. Look to set settings at Medium to High but more settings set at Medium and even with those settings, raid areas, your FPS is definitely going to drop.

I run it nearly maxed on the worst iMac of the last generation, that will run it fine. I have an Ati Radeon 2400 HD, 2.4 ghz core 2 duo etc.

I am in no way a guru when it comes to video cards and performance so this is more of a question for those who know this stuff. Don't you have to consider that the 2400XT was a discrete card vs. the 9400M which is integrated or did does the advancements make discrete vs. integrated (just for this comparison) a moot point? It's something to look into because there is no chance you can max out the settings and still play comfortably. I'm guessing OP will run at it's native resolution which is higher than the 1440x900 of the MacBook Pro and depending on whether he upgrades his RAM from 2 to 4GB, I'm pretty sure that and the small increase in CPU (2.4GHz MacBook Pro to 2.66GHz iMac) can't and/or won't help with better performance.

Well, I run the resolution a lot lower than my max one, so that helps with the FPS. Didn't think that it would be an integrated card, might affect performance, not sure though.

Agreed. If you were planning to get a higher-level iMac to do other stuff and WoW just so happens something you plan on doing as well, fine. But 60 FPS isn't possible unless you lower your settings and use a a low resolution. With my setup, I find 30-40 FPS is perfectly fine for something like WoW. Sure, I'm all for higher FPS but you're definitely not getting that with the 9400M without some compromise.
