Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone here uses one of those plastic covers for their MBP? Does this cover cause any cooling problems (or any hinderance to performance). I was wondering because I play WoW in native OSX and maybe it's my imagination, but I think it's running a bit slower with the cover on. What kind of framerates should I be getting? What do you guys get if you play? Also does it run faster in bootcamp. I heard it actually looks different though? Thanks!

What do you mean plastic covers? Like those silicon keyboard iSkins or one of those acrylic plastic shells? Either way, I don't think either should hinder your performance. As for performance, I haven't actually seen the new MBP in action (and I am assuming that's the model you're talking about  ), I think you should be getting from 35 to 90-100FPS, generally depending what area you're in and how many people are on screen.

iProd is about right - my 2.4 SR MBP gets 30fps and upwards, right upwards, under OS X.

WoW puts the notebook under heavy load - I'd recommend against using anything that may cause the machine to be any hotter than it will be anyway.

Agree with Mini...I use a Targus cooling unit under my MBP when playing WOW and it still peaks to about 172 when I exit. I am running full screen which is probably a blessing so I don't see that temp all the time. And I am sure my fans are getting a work out! Hope they don't fail like they did about 6 months ago and had to send my unit back in. What a pain!! But Apple came thru on the fix!

Bill.....:apple:
