After using iOS 7 for a few days, I've realized that wallpaper choice makes a big difference in how appealing the icons look. If the wallpaper is heavily textured, like the "Tiki God Carving" wallpaper, the icons look rather garish.
Using the starry sky wallpaper, though, the icons look rather vibrant and beautiful. In the GM, I hope they tone down the green neon a bit, as in the Messages, Phone, and FaceTime icons.
One thing I do worry about is the lack of button outlines in the top menu bar buttons of certain apps. Not so much for stock apps that we're used to, but newly developed apps. It may be hard for some users to distinguish between plain text and clickable text. Personally I think that's where buttons are naturally useful, just like having hyperlinks in blue underlined font is useful. It's a paradigm that all Internet users are used to. For example, in certain lighting conditions outside, it may be hard to see the yellow "New" button in the upper righthand corner of the Notes app. Likewise, a new user might wonder, "Is it clickable?"
Overall, the new features in iOS 7 are a very welcome addition.
