I'm fine with most of the things in iOS 7, icons, etc... is tolerable.

But, there couple of things that, in my opinion, they ruined.

1. Calendar

They absolutely butchered it, how is the new calendar better than the old one?

CxWTXyQ.png

So much white space, and it's hard to quickly glance at it and acquire information. Also you don't get dots for events anymore. And month view with events underneath it was much better. Calendar is ruined.

2. Spotlight

The new placement of the Spotlight search is better than the old one, but they should've integrated it into the Notification Centre. That way you'd have quick access to it from anywhere, any app.

3. App Switcher

IMO, the new app switcher is terrible! How is better than the old, where you could view 4 apps at the same time and it was more minimalistic.

They could've made it better than just copy from Windows Phone. At least copy from HTC One or Nokia N9.

Or the best solution, IMO, would've been to put the switcher into the Control Centre. And slide left to view the current shortcuts. They could even make it looks like a card view with app thumbnails.

Was with Apple since iPhone 1.

I'm very upset that I have to buy an Android now.

I don't need "Android Looking" IOS7, better I have pure Android.

I'm sorry, but new IOS looks like a color blindness test. That's why I call it "blind IOS".

If Apple thinks that with new "Androidish" blind looking IOS they lure more Google fans , they wrong. It is going to be an opposite.

I'm waiting June 26 and going to order SG S4 Google edition.
I'm going miss iMessages and FaceTime for sure.

May be I'm wrong, but as per Michael Jackson : "This Is It".

I'm converted.

BTW: Still love my new 27 inch iMac, you cannot find anything better.

I don't work for Apple, Samsung, Google and other rich guys.

So much hyperventilating. Save it for a couple betas down the road? I'm sure Apple is doing lots of tweaks.

If they do - I sell my future SGS4 Google Edition

Two things:
#1 - Why are you switching platforms after BETA 1?
#2 - Don't upgrade to iOS7 when it's released. Wait for a jailbreak and an iOS6 theme to come out (i'm sure one will be available within 6 months).

Seems silly to be upset it looks like Android, only to go to Android? That doesn't make any sense.

To each his own.

Well said.

So you've been with iPhone since day one, and now you're switching to Android because iOS 7 looks too much like . . . Android? I've got to warn you, Android looks even more like Android than iOS 7 does.

It might be a bit premature to decide to switch after beta 1, but I'm not optimistic that major changes to the UI will be made before public release.

And it's possible to stay on iOS 6 only if you stay on old hardware. If you want or need to upgrade your device, you'll get stuck with iOS 7.

And not only is Androis more customizable than iOS, I was at a Verizon store yesterday, looking at some Samsung Galaxy phones, and they looked more like iOS 6 than 7.

Personally, I haven't yet made up my mind what to do, but I can understand the pov of people deciding to switch to Amdroid.

Haha thats funny

Anyone switching to Android is seriously going to miss smooth scrolling. This is one of the main reasons I won't touch Android. I was thinking of getting a galaxy S4 until I had a play with my son's Nexus. Just remember all the really great features you do like about iOS and if that doesn't make your mind up to stay, just go play with Android first and I'm sure that will change your mind.

Am I the only one missing the simplicity of iPhone OS 1.0 – iOS 6?

Sure. iOS 7 has a lot of exciting new features that some people have been waiting for some time, but despite the fact that it has nice colors and fonts, don't you feel that it's too bloated?

Maybe the pressure was too strong, and Apple decided to stay competitive and to take a big step into the Android direction (come on, this can't be denied once you see where the "inspiration" seems to come from). But for me –and Apple executives say this all the time– the company is been always about making decisions and saying "no" to some things. Is the "zen philosophy" that Jobs implanted since the beginning and that it's supposed to be part of the core values at Apple.

However, iOS 7 and its bloated GUI tells another story, which makes me feel a little disappointed.

I use iOS and not Android because is visually simple and uncluttered. It does what it needs to be done. It has an order.

If I wanted a bazillion of buttons and options on screen at the same time I'd be using Android instead.

I dont see how its become complicated. If you don't want to use the new functions then don't use them. As long as I don't swipe up or down it works just like iOS 6.

Wow. iOS 7 is a disaster.

The "functions" are there whether I need them or not. Two good examples of this are the Calendar app and the sharing screen.

Anyway I'm not talking only about new features, but also about the way Jony Ive decided to display the typical functionalities of iOS on the screen. It's a matter of UI.

You have a point. I am a lifelong iOS user and would have left if they didn't give it a quick setting feature. But I see your point, the simplicity was awesome.

By "a bazillion of buttons and options on screen at the same time" I assume you're talking about the control panel (only thing you could be talking about)? While I get the issues many people have about the changes to the GUI, I'm very pleased that Apple has decided to make simple settings changes more accessible and less of a chore; honestly can't imagine how anyone could view that as a negative. Then again, I remember my grandfather refused to use a TV remote for years when I was a kid because "it has too many damned buttons"...he eventually changed his mind.

Other than the striped down functions of the Calendar, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.

One of the things is dislike about iOS6 is the disunity between the stock apps. I also don't like the fact that simple functions are buried within the settings app. Both of these things are pretty much solved with iOS7.

Though I do hope the calendar app is improved before launch. I use it an incredible amount to organise my days/weeks with Uni and with work.

I don't personally really get the bloated talk. To me, they aren't really adding that much new functionality. Just simplifying the access to some existing functions (control centre). Plus, a move to Android is certainly not going to solve the issue of software being considered bloated.

The ios 7 calendar is nearly as functional as a picture of a calendar.

The rest of ios7 had been striped of icons (notification centre weather replaced by txt) and lots of scrolling for upcoming appointments compared to ios 6

Too much white space, wastes battery. I'd like a black skin

The calendar app is obviously not finished (there's not even a movie demo for it on Apple.com) and white space does not waste battery on LCD screens. You must be thinking about OLED screens.

iOS 6 ruined the "wait for it to leave beta" argument for me.

I've went through several betas. I don't remember any kind of functionality addition in any of them between b1 and the final version.

I only saw the opposite. In iOS5b2, you could paste formatted text (e.g., a part of a Web page from Safari) into Notes, which, then, could render / keep at least basic formatting (bold / italic / colors etc.).

This was later removed.

The new calendar is considerably less functional than previous. Apart from that, I think it's pretty good.

This.

If they just add back the dots, I'll be happy. My morning routine involves looking at the month view for dots, if I see one, I drill down and look at my appointments to determine how I'll dress. This is the only way in which Apple will be taking me backwards.

I'd go backwards in literally twenty ways if I switched to Android.
