You can customize your UI. Organize your icons, change your wallpaper. Apple has never given you the ability to "deeply" customize the interface. (Nor does WP8. And Android can become quite sketchy when you start doing wholesale changes to its "design" - usually you have to flash a different ROM to have such customization options; no thanks).

Jailbreak if you want that.

And just how much customization do you wanna do?

Well, android allows way more customization than iOS does.
iOS gives you the very basic. Wallpaper, icons placement.
WP8 is in the middle. You can change tile sizes, placement, wallpapers, themes of the phone to specified shades.

With iPhone they are all pretty much identical. There isn't much individualization of the phone.

And yes, Jailbreaking it does give one many of those customization options, but not everyone jailbreaks.

I'm not saying it's a must have on the iOS, all I'm saying is that Apple could've avoided this whole redesign of the visuals if they simply let developers create "Themes" for the phone. People would get "fresh" looking OS at there own will. And i'm sure there will be TONS more money made on it on the AppStore. It would free up Apple's Engineer's time to do more value added upgrades to the OS.

Just food for though.

Oh no - high contrast! Everything is SO hard to see...

(I wrote that extra large, so you can see it, not to appear clever).

What folk really mean is: "I was used to the old way, and this is not the old way, so I am going to complain, because everyone else is complaining"

When you use iOS 7 constantly it really is a beautiful OS. I know its down to opinions and it may look nicer on my white iPhone than black but everything thing about it is stunning.

The transparency is the perfect amount and so many little touches that has been thought through. Really looking forward to other small features coming in.

What are those pictures supposed to prove?

Its proves nothing. The photos on the apple site and the screen shots look nice but when you get it in your hands on it and actually use it, it just isn't good.

I was incredibly excited for iOS 7, while it was different I was still eager to try it out. I loved the new features but the new design really wore on me. I grew to hate it more and more the more I had to look at it. The new animations are child-like and unnecessary. The new animations take forever and make the phone feel sluggish. But the animation duration will more than likely be sped up so I will not harp on that too much since it is in beta.

Everytime I post something negative people scream "its a beta!!!!" and I do want to point out that I am not complaining about incompletion of design or features, or bugs in the system. I just don't care for this new design. I feel in love with Apple because of the premium feeling from the skeuomorphism unlike android and WinMo that went the new flat plain route. I loved how notes looked like a note pad. I like the boarders and virtual buttons. I like the real world feeling. This new look just doesn't feel the same. Yes I like what I have been used to why is that such a problem. iOS 6 wasn't perfect but I was happy. The new features of iOS 7 could have been done with the iOS 6 look. We didn't like iOS 6 because we were expecting the new features of iOS 7 to be there in iOS 6.

And while I was running iOS 7, I showed it off to alot of the people I know that had iPhones and not one person liked it. I know that does not mean nobody will like it but so far my base of opinion is that it is not good. Apple got to where they are not by conforming, but by being different and by just copying android and WinMo styles and going with what it "popular" is not what they are known for.

We're not talking about trends.

No other platform is flat, bright, and stripped.

Sit down.

Then it shouldn't be too difficult for you to move to one of these other platforms then, should it? I'm not sure what all of you complaining expect to achieve. Do you think Apple is suddenly going to scrap iOS 7 and start over because you don't like it?

Somehow I'm beginning to think that this is just the beginning. Once iOS 7 actually drops, we may have to shut down the forum.

This happens every time Apple releases a new product or update. Every. Single. Time. People complain and make threats, and then they either give up or move on. This will be no different.

Maps is still crap. The battery life still sucks. The design of the iPhone 5 is still awkward. These things didn't go away because we stopped talking about them.

But I'll tell you what though, say one bad thing about Apple, and they'll be on you quick. They're on me faster than they're on the robots.

Thing is though, I'm still an Apple fan, but I can see the flaws.

You know how they did research when they made those Earpods? I think they should've done that for this new iOS. To see if people don't cringe just by looking at it.

I never got a chance to watch the unveiling of iOS 7, because I turned it off after I saw the home screen.

But did you hear how awkward and quiet it was when they showed the home screen?

Not a sound in the room. They were just. stunned.

Funny how before iOS 7 came out all we heard was how stale iOS was and it needed to change. Now its In beta and we hear eww Apple why did you copy Google and Microsoft. Had Apple just tweaked iOS 6 to remove gloss or faux leather and felt people would have complained about that too and wondered what the heck Apple has been doing the past 7 months. There's nothing that Apple could do that people wouldn't complain about.

When I heard that Apple would be live streaming this year's WWDC, I thought they really had something to show us. Then I saw iOS7.

They coulve added the features of iOS 7 without redisigning anything =P

Or they could have just let users set default apps, download themes and called it a day and I bet the majority of users would have been happy. Replacing a locked-down design with a new locked-down design doesn't really change anything. The reason most people jump to Android is the customization and freedom. It's not for the apps.

What happened to Tim saying they were going to "open up more"? Where is that exactly? Maybe next year? I love Apple, but sometimes I wish they'd loosen up the reins a bit. I don't want to jump to another platform because I'm heavily invested in iOS and it literally "just works" for me, but the mass of complaints you are seeing in the threads is a result of people being told that "If you don't like this color scheme, then something is wrong with you." No. It's subjective. People stare at the same screen for years. Some people like to change up the look every now and again.

There is something about Apple products that make them beautiful in person, up close. Seeing screenshots probably does no justice to how it feels.

I have a feeling people will love iOS 7 once they have the ability of actually using it.

Your posts are becoming beyond a joke. You hate iOS 7, fair enough, many people like it, more than you're willing to believe, it seems. Move on with your life, or at least be constructive, instead of making lame jokes and borderline trolling.

i highly doubt it. best iOS to date. apple and iOS is moving forward. i have enjoyed ever minute of the beta of iOS 7 so far and am looking forward to future iOS 7 betas and beyond.

The only reason that trolling is such a problem on these boards is because the mods will chase down any member that's making statements that they don't agree with. If I'd get to stay here longer, I might be able to get into other discussions. But people here don't like me because I openly state my views of iOS 7 that's different from yours.

I don't even hate iOS7.

I think that many people, like me, are disappointed in iOS7 because it visually goes against everything that attracted them to Apple in the first place.

Sure, Apple has many times made bold moves in their designs, but they have always kept it at a highly professional level. This time I feel is different.
To go out and show something like this to the public. I don't know what they were thinking. It looks like an early sketch at best.

There will always be people who likes it. And I can't say that they are wrong. Everyone has their own taste. But this is a device that is aimed to appeal to the masses and there's what I think it went horribly wrong.
Not one person that i've showed it to has liked it. In fact most of them could not believe that it was a product of Apple which they have always regarded highly when it comes to design.

It is an embarrassment to say the least.

When I heard about Jobs death I feared that Apple would start to lose their direction eventually. With iOS7 it was more than obvious.
If this is the new Apple I will start looking for alternatives.

Not that there isn't good things in iOS7. Quite the opposite. I like many of the changed they have done. But as a whole, it doesn't feel right.
The best thing about it is probably that they took the things they developed for multitasking and incorporated it into Mac OS. :)

YouTube: video

And if you saw the crowd reaction after the video they played, the crowd went insane, what's your point?

Context is key. Developers were thrilled with the presentation, both from a UI standpoint and more importantly all the new technologies (APIs) that debs will be able to wrap into their apps.
