I love how these geeks and bloggers use words like "disaster, catastrophe, horrendous, horrible, terrible" like they have some knowledge we don't know about, or like they have all the answers and steps microsoft, apple, google, samsung should take.

excuse me where do you work? are you as overqualifyed as some of these senior excecutives who make this decisions? if so leave the forums and use your great knowledge of words elsewhere maybe apply for a job at this companies and tell em what should be done! go you!

And smart developers will keep making apps for iOS because they're more likely to actually make money from it than the other platforms.

Oh, of course. Apple calls the shots. We basically have to make it work. If we don't like something we'll just have to get over it.

Because truth is, most people say they want to jump ship, but they actually can't. They're already just invested completely in the iPhone.

So they will have to suck it up regardless and get used to it.

There's nowhere else to go.

It's kind of like how the guy from a jailbreak community said "That's it, I'm leaving for Android!"... I doubt he means it.

Apple could start charging for version upgrades if they wanted to, and people would still buy their products.

I don't know, it's just a teetering situation. I mean, if it's as bad as he says it is:

“iOS 7 design is awful, it's slow, battery life time is the worst ever, it's full of UI bugs and crashes. OK it's beta 1, but still,”

I'd be scared to try it. And then having to give up everything for a different platform? It's scary.

You should be scared to try a beta that isn't really a beta. It's really a developer preview under a different name.

Hmm. You're right. I think they should make the dock at least completely/near complete transparent. I think they're focusing too much on 'fitting the colour scheme based on the background' thingy. This should only be applied to texts on the screen.

It's looking like a more recent internal build has a slight less blurred effect, beta 1 is obviously a much older build than normal. The builds at WWDC had voice memos on, which beta 1 doesn't. Also the apple site has a different animation for messages sending that beta 1 doesn't. That's just evidence enlighten that things will change between builds.

The next step after replacing the standard icons should be to darken the background in folders like the style in OSX Mavericks. The app thumbnails would be more visible and it would add some contrast to iOS 7.

Does Apple plan to use virtual buttons for iPhone 6? I believe the dock style hints at this. If so they should use the same Gaussian blur for the extra button menu but darken it a bit. It would work well with the dock.

No thank you. I don't want to give up any screen space to buttons that can be handled by the home button and gestures.

Why do you think the dock style hints at software buttons?

I like ios 7 and I am looking forward to watching it progress with more betas and eventually a stable release. If you don't like it don't use it. If they force a download in the future move to android or another platform no one has a gun to your head making you use ios 7. It's not going away at this point this is something that apple is obviously moving forward with they aren't scrapping ios 7 for a few complainers in a forum.

I hope that if Apple moves away from the home button, they use gestures. The stupid on-screen buttons Android uses is a horrible idea. Especially on the tablets. That long black bar for only three buttons. WebOS had it right.

Blogs are the worse, since they don't really have to follow any rules. They just give an opinion. Most of the time its just regurgitated nonsense.

I can think of many new dock designs if they wanted to keep the old style but just create something new. But by just cover the menu and the icons with a gaussian blur background doesn't make sense.. Unless you plan to introduce a meny beneath it! You then would want consistency and a connection between the two elements. In short they would have to match. The old styled dock had a look that gave the user a feeling that it resided at the very bottom on the screen.

You can't replace all functions with gestures. Multitasking? Siri?

The new dock style feels the same to me, it anchors the icons to the bottom the same as all the other dock styles did. I don't see your connection that the new dock necessarily hints at software buttons.

Multitasking and Siri can be handled by the Home Button, everything else can b gestures.

Assistive touch = virtual buttons

And Apple has this habit of releasing things that are unfinished. Just like Siri and Maps. Apple is on a downwards spiral. Of course we got used to iOS6, but the bugs are still there. Maps is still as crappy as ever. And iOS 7 is the worst thing I've seen in a long time.

The "beta" excuse.

"excuse"?
No, Apple haven't released iOS 7. It is still in development. It's not going to be released for a few months yet.
I get the feeling you don't really know what you're talking about when you're saying things like "The "beta" excuse"...

People please stop posting home screen pictures. Those 90s-colored MS-Paint designed icons make me...sad.

iOS7 came as a shock to me... But, it is actually growing on me... Well, except the safari icon everything else is... Thankfully that is hidden in a folder and I use chrome as my regular browser... :p

Looks like there will be some major changes in graphics compared to old version. But I think it will take some time to get popular among current users of iOS 6. So Im also waiting to update iOS versions in my MacBook as well as iPhone.

WebOS had it right.

It's really interesting to see how much webOS had right, in hindsight. WebOS's multitasking and gestures have slowly migrated their way into modern mobile OSs. However, the absolute killer feature of webOS, Synergy, has also slowly been making it's way into modern movile OSs; but it's still nowhere near as good as it was on webOS.

I used WebOS for over two years, and I love it. I still think back on the potential it had fondly. What HP did with is was really a shame.
