Oh My GOD!!! Why on earth is ANYBODY still using PC's? I just don't get it. Between OS X, to Dashboard, to Front Row.. the Mac is so many millions of light years ahead of the PC they're not even comparable.

Front row just blew me away. Like, "wow". And Photo Booth too. WOW. What a lot of fun!!! That's what mac's are for "FUN". Why are we here on this earth? To have fun!!!

I have one question though. If I got an iMac as well, just like my little brother, and he used front row, would the signal get to my computer too? Cause we're in the same room....

Thanks.

I personally don't know why people find Front Row to be such a great thing. A similar software can be written for PC and do the same thing as front row does (performs a slideshow, "itunes maximized," regular dvd player and movie player)

Nothing special.

On the other hand, Dashboard is a great tool which I find very useful. XP/Vista needs a similar thing.

No.

Every Apple Remote is paired to a specific sensor (whether it's a Universal Dock, an iMac, an MBP, or an intel Mac mini).

There's a code to re-pair it if you wan't, and it's probably in the handbook that came with your Mac.

I barely use front row too, like wickedG35 said it is really just a frontend to existing applications. Woopeedoo!

Simple people are easily amazed :)

That is NOT true.

I bought an apple remote before I bought my MBP and it operates my Universal Dock (my nano is docked in it and it is connected to external speakers) as well as my MBP front row. Likewise, the remote that came with my MBP operates my universal dock fully.

^^ I don't know. I wish my iMac was an iSight one... I don't have a TV or DVD player in my room and it'd be nice to watch movies from my bed w/out having to go up to the computer all the time.

Same w/ music, I get more studying if I'm not in front of the computer but as most of my music is on my iMac it'd be nice to access iTunes w/ that remote and FrontRow.

:edit: Oops I'm too late... My ^^ were in reference to generik's post.

Same thoughts/opinion here. :)

It is nice to have a computer company that actually understands this. :)

Agree, at the apple store they had a mackbookpro next to a hifi boombox and the damn remote kept changing the track on frontrow and on the ipod on the hifi.

About the remote thing.

At work, we have an MBP and iMac in the same space, and you can control both (usually simultaneously, not on purpose) from the same remote.

Did we configure it to be like that?

No, the Apple Remote is universal and operates any apple device with the IR port.

Personally, I love Front Row. It's so convenient. I use it everyday when I'm watching something during dinner or whatever. It's one of my most favourite things about my computer.

Err.. Not quite true. We have 31 G5 iSight iMacs where I work and I can stand 8 feet in front of them and I can control four in one go. Now if what you are saying in true then we must have had the luckiest (or not) installations where all 4 are using the same IR frequency next to each other. If I stand further back I can pick up a couple more but the signal must weaken towards the outer edges of the beam spread.

Oh, I dunno. Perhaps they're too busy running Windows XP Media Center to care a great deal about Front Row. Maybe you've heard about it, too?

Yes - but it's done very well. The fact it's simple is a great thing.

There has been at least one thread about the remote thing, but I'm too lazy to look it up right now (just woke up).

Whenever you buy an Apple remote, it is able to control any device in the room that it can, so yes, you could control both computers at one time.

However, there is a way to prevent this if you wish:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302545

This article dexcribes how to "pair" your computer with a specific remote only.

Have fun with the iMac if you decide to get one. I should be getting mine from FedEx sometime today.

Just because he likes it doesn't make it simple. I like it too and I wouldn't consider myself a simpleton. It is a neat feature. Now if costs more to have my computer with Front Row, then forget it. But for the same price, I love it.

People are just afraid to make changes I guess.
