Slighlty considering a level guide for WoW. Saw iDemise's Alliance guide. Very impressive but for alliance. I am horde. ;)

What do you guys recommend?

Just use the carbonite addon and leveling is pretty quick and trivial. If you still feel you need a leveling guide, pick up one of the free ones to go along with the carbonite addon. Once your characters get to 80, use the elitistjerks.com website.

i bought it and felt really stupid for doing so at first. but it works. really well. the guys keeps it updated constantly. i leveled up much faster using this than some of the other guides because his is an addon which tracks everything in game. telling you where to go and when via GUI arrows and whatnot.

Goodluck in whatever you find!

Try the carbonite addon. It does the same and it's free.

Don't buy it.

Level to 15, then use Dungeon Finder. Sure, do a quest here and there, but you get XP much faster in random dungeons than questing. No comparison.

It depends on the role you picked out, if you're a tanking/healing class for the most part you can skip the guides and go queue up for dungeons till 80, obviously you get the xp's and experience of tanking/healing for end game content. If you're a DPS class (especially pure DPS) then pick up a guide to keep busy with the 10+ minutes queues.

Personally I'm using Zygors guide which even if it didn't level you faster (it does) it makes questing much more interesting and fun in between dungeons.

You have to be smart with the guide(s) and not follow it to a T because its designed for 1-80 leveling with it alone and dungeons (no bg's aren't the way to level anymore as of this patch) get you pretty far ahead but the guide keeps up, just gotta pay attention, abandon quests as needed, see if its worth it to go to a place like burning steeps for one or two quests etc. As long as you're willing to pay attention to it and do a couple of added steps then I'm happy with guide + dungeons.

Already have:

80 Warlock (Full Wrathfuls) - Didn't use the guide nor dungeon finder since it wasn't available and it took ages to level.
80 Druid - First toon using the guide, took about 8 days played time.
80 DK - Guide + Some dungeons, about 5 daysish.
75 Rogue - Guide + Dungeons, about 5 days played.
58 Warrior - Guide + Dungeons, 2.5 days.
58 Mage - Guide + Dungeons, 2.5 days.
54 Priest - Guide + Dungeons, 2 days.
53 Hunter - Guide + Dungeons, 2 days.
52 Shaman - Guide + Dungeons, 2 days.
52 Paladin - Guide + Dungeons, 2 days.

I bet over a half of the posters in this thread are bots..

Anyway, you don't need a guide for leveling, not since the released of The Burning Crusade. Cataclysm has made leveling even more easy.

Its like asking for a guide to play lego :D

A agree its silly for those packs of legos, especially the big sets that have like 500+ pieces to have the full color guide for how to make a car or a space port.

If possible, use WoW's "recruit a friend" feature.

Whenever you play together, you get experience at 3x the normal rate. It's ridiculously fast.

My GF and I leveled up so fast that even while we were still in the starting area the quests became too low a level to see. We were literally forced to turn off the low-level quests filter just to be able to finish the starting area.

There are also other bonuses as well.

This is utterly appalling. :):) There was a time when the *longish* journey to just level 60 (for me back in the day all most 3 months) was a boat load of fun. Now I was not playing 10 hrs per day, more like 10-20 hrs per week. If you rush to the end game, I think it takes a lot of fun out of it, however, I realize the game has changed dramatically since the old days (with the accelerated XP and nurfed low-mid content) and it is less than it was IMO. Looking forward to the new Blizzard MMORPG but not holding my breath...like 4 years min, lol.

Just joined this forum so hi to all

I myself would suggest Dugi guides. These are the best. I bought 1 and its is really very good. But dont be fool if you buy.. i found a coupon code for it.

But yea if you are willing to pay for it then this is for you :)

Welcome! :)

For the OP if you are looking for a guide that tells you where you need to go for quests , I agree Carbonite...

Get to level 15 through questing and then do random dungeon finder until level 80. Then do the Cataclysm quests. No guide needed :p

I've stopped playing this game as it's an infinite circle of death. I prefer games that have an end.

But what you said is the easiest way to level. I got to level 15 on a Pally tank and literally stood in one place next to a trainer the entire time, never left, and leveled all the way to 80 in about 3.5 days played time. You can also quest in between dungeon q's if you're not an instant q class (tank, healer).

It does have an end, when you call enough, enough. ;)

Depends on what you do in wow and on your skill level.

For example, if you're raiding, you've completed the game when you defeat all current tier normal or heroic raids.

If you are after achievements, the game ends when you have completed all that were obtainable with your skill level.

If you are into gear ( ), when you have the current best-in-slot stuff.

If you are making videos/machinima, when it gets boring, etc.

Of course content patches add more stuff to the game, but since they are about 6-8 months apart you have plenty of time to reignite your passion for the game. When it gets boring you stop. Simple ^_^

I got frustrated. I could not find one person to fight. Everytime I would attack it would say you can not attack this person. Lol

Your rolling eyes smiley are my sentiments exactly in regards to gear. By the time you acquire a full set, an expansion comes out who's greens on even the easiest NPCs make your tier look like horse ****. Deathwing is also depressingly easy. And the new Panda expansion. Like... seriously? The last bit of joy I got out of that game was leveling a Rogue just so I could be a douche to people.

Frm experience , ignore the guides , level 1-14by doing the normal starter quest, then park yourself in a city and que for dungeon runs , lvl 85 in about 8-12 hrs if your server is busy enough (especially as the dungeons quests are now just inside the dungeons)

Playing for gear, never attracted me as a motivator if I was repeating content over and over. Yes, I could run the same instance 5-10 times before getting sick of it, but when I hit my limit, I was done. Consider that I am not into raiding so there is another part of the game I did not experience. That was too much of a commitment and in the few 40 player raids I participated in, I did not like the group dynamics. 5-10 player groups were much more fun.

40 player raids are gone, its now 10 and 25 player, my guild does 10 player two nights a week, its not a difficult schedule to keep. The new looking for raid tool lets everyone see the content now, which in theory sounds good but in practice is pretty depressing!

Are you married with kids? ;) I have nothing against raiding but admit I was annoyed when our WoW addicted friend, rushed through dinner at the restaurant and then walked out leaving her husband with us so she could go "raid". :(

Haha that is a bit sad. I would never rush a meal out for a game that is something to savour!

Anyway I am married but no kids just a crazy insane dog! I just found a guild that doesn't raid until later on at night so I don't need to rush anything. I used to rush things to get on for raids and I lasted about 2 months before realising rushing real life to play a game was totally terrible and just stopped. Life become way more pleasant!
