I was playing a game earlier, which got it up to 88°C+ for a bit, and it normally idles around 48°C. But now, fans at normal speed, I'm running safari and Adium, at 33°C!

Is it possible for a CPU to get so hot that thermal paste re-seats or adjusts or something?

Mine's also idling at 48, plugged in. Is yours plugged in or running from battery?

By the way, 33 ° is not ice cold, 0 is :)

 I know what freezing point is, figure of speech

It's running from AC Power, and on Better Performance mode.
