I Just got off the phone w/ Apple to check on my MacBook Pro order.....

The Rep Called it a "MotherBoard Pro" my god they are so clueless its not even funny.
And you have capitalization and punctuation problems.

When I see MB written somewhere (context not considered), I don't think "MacBook". I think "motherboard".

At least you're not talking to someone in the middle of India who can barely speak english while they snack on butter chicken and na'an bread. I'd take the most clueless American or Canadian over any Indian call center employee.

if they can't help you. does it really matter? if they don't know what they are talking about, does the accent count?

Ah, so you have called Dell "Tech" Support as well... ;) :)

Not all Americans eat that crap...personally I can not stand it. ;)
That said, I like my North American tech support- cheers to Apple! :)

Don't mind me, I'm being facetious. :p

I think one of the great things about forums like this is their ability to cut down on the small barriers like dialects and accents because everything is written. Of course, I can only imagine that it'd still be very difficult for those of us who don't speak English as our first language. :)

Wow we have a wise guy here. Anything is better than someone eating and talking on the phone at the same time...eww gross imagine the food spitting on the phone and the poor person who comes along and uses it.

Bless

Hahaha, Levono IBM ThinkPad support actually. Call went something like this:

"Hello thank you for calling IBM service and support how may I help you?"
"I have a ThinkPad T41P that has a heatsink fan which has a bad bearing in it causing the computer to either overheat and crash, or make noise when the fan turns on."

(45+ minutes on the phone, through three tiers of tech support doing every stupid tech support step in the book with three different people, each of which you could easily tell were just reading straight off a computer screen flow chart.)

"OK it sounds like you have a bad heatsink fan, we will dispatch a technician."

Sounds just like every phone call I made to dell...glad that I saw the light and switched to Apple! :) :)

The only Dell support I've ever dealt with is their enterprise level 4 hour response time warranties... and they're OUTSTANDING. (But when you're paying nearly as much for the warranty as you are for the server it should be outstanding.)

At least they were awake. I called apple once... The lady was so sleepy.

>Me calling about an apple care question<

>Lady:

"Huh?"... Pause... *Yawn*
...
"OK, let me check"...

Reality Check: You JUST got off the phone the rep at 8:49pmEST. That's 5:49PST. Could it be that..um..maybe..the lady was overtiming on her work day and was tired? Personally I wouldn't give a damn if she called it MacBook Pro, MotherBoard Pro, or even Mutherf@#$ing Pro. The main thing for me would be that the [computer] that was bought was on its way.

Did I also mention, I called this morning. and a different lady played a mean trick on me and told me "It's shipping today!" started laughing then said "just kidding!"

Now THAT is funny. :D

I've had some fanTAStic outsourced support, and some horrible home-grown support, so spending time ridiculing someone that can speak 2 languages - 1 more than most - well that's just not giving enough credit where it's due.

mmmm...Na'an.

This wasn't today, a couple of months back during the middle of the day. My point is that apple's support isn't too different.
