the states for now
I know there is patch for the game so it can be run on intel. But that is for current users, what about new users? Do I just buy the game and then download the patch? Thanks!

Yes, you just buy the game and download the patch. Be prepared for some waiting though!

Well I will not order my imac until after my vacation, so the patch should be out by end of february?

The UA will be included in WoW patch 1.9.3.

(Blizzard is WAY ahead of the curve vs. other developers when it comes to supporting Intel Macs.)

Anyhow, the UA work at Blizzard for WoW seems to be completed. This UA hasn't been released, though, because Blizzard is throwing some other stuff (bug fixes, who knows) into 1.9.3 to make it an all-around patch and not just a Mac-only UA patch.

Some lucky Mac users (*cough*) are currently beta testing the UA of WoW. These people can tell you that, provided you have sufficient RAM (at least a gig), WoW will look fantastic on your new intel Mac.

I think we'll be seeing the patch in the next week or two. Blizzard said it would be out by the end of January but like dothog said I'm sure they're throwing more stuff in to make it a patch for everyone. I hoping for good things because WoW runs the same right now as did on my previous G5 iMac and that's under rosetta. The patch should make it run outstanding.

Awesome thanks. Ill have the 256 card and 1.5 GB RAM so it should be run flawlessly.

Link?

UA?
Universal Application. Apparently the "binary" thing is going to the wayside.

No link. Blizzard told beta testers of UA to remove the beta from their machine and replace it with the old PPC version before tomorrow.

That's great news. I can't wait to see how it will run.

Good news: Patch with UA out this morning.
Bad news: Servers down until 11 AM PST.

Win some, lose some. Guess I'll be seeing the official, Intel native WoW after work.

I will be amazed if the servers are back up at 11AM PST. The track record lately has been really really bad. Great news on the universal version of the game though, I really can't wait for my MacBook now!

Yep, on the Mac WOW forum the UA has been confirmed for today. Can't wait to see what it does.
