hey guys,

just curious if anyone is playing WoW on the new mac mini. Im buying the 2.26ghz 4gb ram 160gb harddrive version, and was wondering what they are getting with FPS and quality when not multitasking.

thanks everyone:apple:

I'd guess around 30fps MAX, you will most likely get less, however i have not run WoW on a mac mini this is just an estimate because of the video card options for the mac mini.

I have the early 2009 2.0GHz mini with 2GB of RAM. I get around 25-30fps in Northrend running at 1900x1200 (ACD native) with fairly low (but not minimal) settings. Instance fps drops a bit when there's a lot of AoE around - the lowest I've had is 15 in Halls of Stone on the Tribunal event. I raid rarely and do it on my PC when I do so don't know about the fps on that.

Dropping to windowed mode at around 1440x900 I can get 40+fps.

Definitely playable, and yours will be better.

If your mini has the Intel GMA 950 onboard graphics chip then you can forget about WoW. My old Macbook white had this chip too and WoW ran @ 20fps in empty regions. Cities, dungeons (essentially any scene more complicated than 3 trees with a critter) was unplayable. (10fps max)

With the newer chips (GeForce 9400M) you can run wow at full resolution + mid details @ 30fps.

I believe it would be the 9400M with the new mini's. Im sure it will be playable since ive been managing to get buy (avoiding dalaran) with my 1.8ghz imac powerpc with 1gb ram. Hopefully having 4GB ram will help out.:apple:

would love to hear others experiences as well!:apple:
