Is it just me and my 635 or does IE on WP 8.1 have a lot of issues and quirks browsing. Certain buttons don't show up (even here on macrumors) or layout not right etc. Hearing rumors there's the Denim update coming and not sure if that will help.

Just wondering if it's just my setup or is this normal.

It isn't you, it is IE and WP8.1.

Hopefully, once Windows 10 mobile is released in a few months, IE will have been completely rewritten for mobile.

I was shocked when I was on a windows phone at how poor the web browser really was. Normally, I'd expect MS to have a decent browser but I couldn't get my work done on it. I was really disappointed

Really no other browser thrills me. Until this resource improves, I will not take WPs any further. We also have a hardly supported app store by developers which is another strike.

I've been thinking about trying out a Blackberry device. Apps aside how does the web browser on BB compare to IE on WP 8.1?

Kinda bummed how many sites have issues..

Does Update 1 for Windows Phone 8.1 improve this? Was thinking about picking up the Nokia 930 to play around with.

Next week sometime ill have a Blackberry Q10 to compare the web browsing experience against. Got it new for $130 so hard to beat. All I know is there is a lot of things I like about windows phone but web browsing is not one..

I know what you mean, I was expecting something along the lines of what we see for Windows, desktop. I had so many issues connecting to some of my applications I support for work. I could not execute the tasks that I could on my iPhone. A real pain when I'm trying to do something to fix a problem when I'm commuting on the subway.

I concur. The Windows Phone browser is trash and there are no other good browsers made for the platform. Prevents me from taking the platform seriously. Looking forward to the Windows 10 update on my Lumia 635.

You'll like it, BB10 has one of the better mobile web browsers in my opinion.

If sites stopped coding to WebKit quirks on mobile, it'd be a lot better. But they haven't, and they likely won't.

Yeah just checked seems 1520 is still on Cyan here, just thought I'd get the denim update because of the 'preview for developers' programme - but so far it hasn't arrived.

Likely won't want it now. Jan 21st we should see the first beta of Windows 10 mobile. You will want to download the new app called Phone Insider before then. It is a purple door with a key icon. This will be the new way to get Win10 updates and previews for your phone.

For whatever reason, firmware doesn't come with that. So you'll likely have Windows 10 preview around the time you get the Denim Firmware update.
