Write access NTFS for Mac??

Hi, I am relatively new to the mac...switched about 2-3months ago and I was wondering if there is a good solution for writing to ntfs drives in OS X. I've found and read alot about MacFUSE and the ntfs driver but since I am not that wise about unix I kinda think that this solution is a bit over my head. Unless there is some kind of easy to install package I can download somewhere? I've also heard that the development of MacFuse and the ntfs driver was ceased?

Is there any other way to get ntfs write access besides MacFuse?

I appreciate any constructive suggestions.

The best soultion is to install MacFuse plus the NTFS plug-in. That will allow you to write to an NTFS hard drive.

If you have a copy of Windows and VMWare or Parallels, you can open them up and mount your NTFS drive from there and transfer files between the virtual machine and your Mac. But MacFuse is probably a better solution.

Hi, sorry for the stupid newbie question but is there a easy to install package maybe? Like a dmg with a installer? I kinda only found sites explaining how to use the terminal and that kind of scared me away from MacFuse. Thanks alot.

the recommended install is by using the dmg available on the macfuse project page.

I have installed the macfuse package and the ntfs 3g package and after reading a few how-to articles I understand that it is necessary to type in specific commands in terminal everytime I want to mount a ntfs volume. Does anyone know if there is some kind of Automator workflow or something a not so terminal savvy guy like me can use for mounting a ntfs volume?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Once you install MacFuse and the NTFS plugin , there is nothing else you have to do. You should be able to read and write to your NTFS drive. Remeber to reboot after installing the programs.
