iPhone Wrong Passcode after evasi0n jailbreak-stuck

I am running an iphone 5 with 6.1.2 IOS. I did the evasion jailbreak for the first time ever. I DID NOT turn off the passcode like I was supposed to because I'm stupid. When the phone restarted the passcode screen was gone, as in at that point I didn't need a passcode to get in and out of the phone.

So, I had done the jailbreak and everything was working great. I got into cydia and downloaded several apps and they worked correctly.

The problem started when I went into settings and turned back on the passcode function and set it back to my normal passcode. The next time I turned the phone off, it requested the passcode which I entered but the phone isn't accepting it is just giving me the wrong passcode message.

I plugged it in to my computer with itunes do a restore but it won't restore without me entering the passcode on the phone, which I can't do. I can do a DFU restore but then it will put it to the latest IOS 6.1.3 or 6.1.4 and I won't be able to jailbreak it again.

Any way around a DFU restore, or am I just SOL?

Disabling the passcode of your device is brutal for the process to work correctly. Otherwise, evasi0n may fail.

If you must restore your device, you will upgrade to iOS 6.1.4 and you cannot jailbreak the handset until one is released for iOS 7.

What if you try booting in Safe Mode? It'll still ask for your passcode but all the tweaks/extensions/jailbreak stuff should be disabled. If it takes your passcode you can go into settings and turn it off again.

No idea if that would work or not, just throwing out ideas. Safe mode can be achieved by turning the phone off. Start the phone and hold Volume Up until you see it booting into safe mode.

Thanks so much, I was hopeful with this suggestion. It wouldn't restart in Safe mode, or if it did it didn't say it did. It went to the passcode screen and when I entered the passcode it was still wrong passcode.

Sorry, that's about all I had. I imagine if you don't have a lot of stuff installed it's not easy to know if you're in safe mode or not. I have themes that don't load if I am so it's much easier for me to tell I guess.

I know it will not help you with your issue but just FYI, holding volume up will reboot with mobile substrate disabled but it will not say safe mode in the status bar like it does if you boot into safe mode due to tweak crashes or conflicts.

Good to know. But if the mobile substrate is off-which I thought meant that essentially the phone isn't jailbroken for that reboot-, why the heck won't the passcode I set work like it is supposed to and unlock the phone? Maybe "safe mode" doesn't work like I thought.

Arrrgh.

My best thought was to try a DFU reboot with my internet disconnected so it can't download 6.1.3 and it will just put back on 6.1.2 Anybody think that could work?

Unfortunately, Apple requires authentication while installing iOS software, so it will be impossible to restore without internet connection.

There goes that thought. At least right now I can receive phone calls...so that is a plus I may just bite the bullet and do a DFU to the 6.1.4 and there goes my jailbreak.

If you have ssh installed you could ssh onto your phone then input the following command in (killall -SEGV SpringBoard) which will reboot your phone to safe mode.

Don't have SSH. I think that method only works on A4 processor phones. I'll take a look at the link this evening.

I tried semi-restore.com tool. On one mac with os10.6.8 it said it wasn't compatible with the OS. On the other mac with os 10.7 it said that one or more of the files was corrupted and semi-restore could not run. I tried several times with each and downloaded from the various mirror sites.

I was really hopeful with this idea too but it was a no go. I'll try it on a windows machine at work tomorrow.

Anybody else have problems using semi-restore? It looks like it would work well for this purpose.

I tried to use the semi restore tool. However it would not detect the iphone while on the passcode screen. I gave up and had to do a DFU restore. No more jailbreak.

Bottom line, don't forget to turn your passcode off before evasi0n jailbreak. It may make it so you are stuck without a passcode working.

Oh, and if you aren't in the passcode screen when doing the evasi0n jailbreak it won't prompt you to turn off the passcode. If you are on the passcode screen when you run it it will prompt you to turn the passcode off.

That sucks Justin. Sorry you lost your JB. Hopefully they'll jailbreak iOS7 pretty fast.
