" WWDC will offer in-depth sessions on both iPhone OS 3.0, the world's most advanced mobile operating system, and Mac OS X Snow Leopard, an even more powerful and refined version of the world’s best desktop operating system and the foundation for future Mac innovation."

So, it seems like focus is iPhone 3.0 OS and Snow Leopard, no mentioning about hardware. Does that means there might not be any major hardware update? Just minor ones?

In pass history, minor update can occurs 1 week before (I think twice) and after the event. Do you think this is the case for WWDC 09?

I am counting on the recent rumor that the Mac notebooks will be updated sometime in June.

Since Apple has a history of releasing the week before and shortly after WWDC, one could easily assume that Mac notebooks could see updates in June.

Also note that Apple has updated its Mac notebooks on average every six months for the past three years. The Mac notebooks were released seven months ago. Based on those factors, I think one could safely assume the Mac notebooks will be updated sometime very soon.

Also, Arrandale CPUs are expected to be available in Q1 2010, so updating now will also time right for the next updates to the Mac notebooks with those chips.

And there was a rumor that Mac notebooks would get OLED displays in June.

Lots of information/rumors pointing to June updates of the Mac notebooks.

Parts

Does anyone know if the parts for a macair update are all available.

For example the new processors, 256 gb SSD and 4 gb of suitable RAM?

The focus at WWDC is NEVER about hardware - the clue being in the name behind the acronym.

That said, I'd imagine there'll be some MBA news by the end of June once the event and subsequent media outreach has been put to bed.

I think this is likely to happen.

2.13 GHz CPU is available. I haven't heard of a 256 GB SSD. 4 GB of RAM is available, it's just a matter of Apple using it. 40 nm iGPU successor to the 9400M may come soon.

Airrr

That processor would make quite a difference.

Mind you I do not have problems with the current air, even recorded a few tracks in GarageBand the other day.

Still 2.13 and 4 gb ram would be very nice!

Me too, I love my Air. Can't complain. It's just so much better than any laptop i've ever owned. I even used my little sisters white Macbook today which she only got last September and I couldn't believe how annoyingly bad the trackpad was. My wrist is still sore from trying to scroll with the bloody thing. I haven't tried the new Macbooks with the glass. R they better than the ones on the Airs? I know they have 4 finger gestures but thats just an update really , oh yeah and the click button. Aside from those, whats it like to use?

Kind of went off point there. I definitely think Apple will increase SSD options sometime in June and possibly the Ram as well

I seriously doubt we will see a different GPU. The 9400m is downclocked, but it is still amazing compared to Intel graphics.

The absolute least of my concern is the GPU.

The only component that could be a problem is the 256 GB SSD in 1.8" 5mm height. I sure wish there was a way to get a standard 2.5" SATA-II with a standard SATA-II connection cable without LIF. Would love to be able to upgrade myself. I know it isn't going to happen, but I can dream, right.

This is the thread I was looking for ... :)

I'm also curious when the next MacBooks will be released.

If it's every 6/7 months then we're due almost overdue right now and the conference is still a month away.

What's anyone's guess that we'll see physical changes in the next MacBooks such as more USB ports, cosmetic changes etc ... OR ... is it quite possible they'll stay the same until Q1 2010?

Go to the MacBook section for those guesses. This thread is in the MBA section.
