WWDC Question

Forgive my ignorance, but I have a couple of questions about the WWDC.

I'm planning on buying a macbook before August (I have to have it by August for school). First, does anyone think there will be updates to the MacBook that will be revealed at the WWDC. Second, does the new information about subnotebooks likely effect the chances of Santa Rosa updates in the MacBooks? Third, if there are any updates, how long does it take before those updated MacBooks can be bought? Will they be available in time for me to purchase one anyway?

Many of us are expecting new macbooks at wwdc incorporating the santa rosa chipset.

The SR chipset will not be affected by the news about the subnotbooks. That news was for machines using ONLY flash ram.

As far as availability, that's an unknown. They could be announced at WWDC, but not shipping till maybe a month or two later. However they might be available right away; apple might have had SR for a while now, allowing them to do development and manufacturing as we speak.

If you need it now, well, you need it now.

If you can wait, then definitely wait a couple of months. I doubt the subnotebooks even exist, let alone will affect the Macbook release. The Macbook is probably the product that Apple will find easiest to update.

If it is not released before August, have you really lost anything in waiting? And I imagine that when the Macbook is launched, it will be a hard launch, as with the MBP, iMac, etc. Whenever they are launched, that is.

I doubt whether any hardware product will be delayed for Leopard, 5 months to October is just too long after the May release of Santa Rosa, especially since the Macbooks are almost at their average time between updates already.
