I currently have a MacBook 1,1 but I've been contemplating the 11.6 inch / 1.6ghz / 4gb MBA for a while now. In an attempt to twist my arm even more in to dropping the cash for one I decided to compare the X bench results:

As expected, overall the MBA beat my Macbook 1,1 but my current laptop beat the MBA in the following categories by quite a considerable amount:

OpenGL Graphics Test
Spinning Squares
User Interface Test
Elements

Why is this so and what does it mean?

I tried searching the forum but couldn't gain a good answer.

xbench is like a 4 year old benchmark software. its hard to really trust its tests when things have changed so much in that time

I don't think you understand what these benchmarks do. You wouldn't make a bizarre claim like this if you did.

just did a comparison myself with my 2GB 1.83ghz MB 1,1. I did however upgrade my HDD from the 5400rpm 60gb to a 320GB 7200prm. So my read/write speeds might be marginally faster, however i still see the 1.6 and 1.86ghz MBA models will be a great upgrade.

This 5year old macbook has served me well, and after 2 batteries its a desktop computer for now....the MBA will be my next Mac.
