I do not know how there is not a post for this yet, but in the X-files on Sunday (5/12) there is a scene where Scully is videoconfering with Doggett and Reyes. Scully is on a Cube with a Cinema display. She is in OS X when videoconfencing. Could this be the new Apple videoconferencing iApp? I would love to post a pic, but I accidentally erased it. If anyone can, please post a pic.

I've heard this elsewhere too.
I was watching the show intermittently, but the whole Brady Bunch thing kinda turned me off of it, so I can't substantiate.

I did not catch that episode, but I really doubt that what was shown was a functioning app (or even modeled after a functioning app).

Kidding maybe not...but do you really think that with iphoto, imovie, ichat, and the storage utilized by the ipod that this isn't the destiny of every consumer with a mac at home this Christmas...come on...I can see Harry Knowles selling these this right now. Pasty skin and red hair against a matte white background..."imagine how much the movie studios will fear me with one of these in my pocket...onward my preview seeking soldiers"
Nothing would sell biz computers and servers than simply the best vid conferencing utility available...icollaborate (or something)

Perhaps, I certainly have noticed that whenever someone is in the hospital (even this last episode) there is always one 15" digital studio display (the one before the current design) as a monitor, which they probably make up their own graphics and stuff to double as a medical monitor. However, this really looked like it was an OS X app. The only thing that makes me think it might not be is that the app had the normal OS X iApp look, not the metallic look of the latest iApps.

I definetly believe we'll get iConference (or whatever Apple decides to call it) but I don't think we got a "sneak peak" of it on the X-files.

Yes, the latest iApps are brushed metal, however, iMovie is not all Brushed metal. The app on the X-Files looked real. It had scroll bars in the right place, and seemed like it was legit. They have always had a lot of Mac on the show throughout the life of it, and maybe that was a little easter egg from Apple for those of us, like us, that would notice. I was so excited about the Mac, and then I was like wait a minute, that is a video conferencing app!
I think it is fun for us to talk about, and would be very cool if was real, but the fact is, we should be very happy about then showing a Mac.

It was nice seeing all the Apple stuff last night. So this is what I noticed:
A "machine" hooked up to the guy in the hospital was using the 15" apple lcd display
The iApp to me looked like iMovie, and they were playing back a quicktime movie. I highly doubt they were actually "conferencing"

i think they usually jus use macs in movies cause they look good ...

he was viewing fullscreen video on it and stuff and we didn't have video of that quality till quicktime had the sorenson codec, at least as far as I can tell anyway, I havn't seen the film in a while.
As for the Xfiles thing, I've not seen the episode so I can't comment on the actual screenshots. I know an OS X native app with a video conferencing type interface that plays quicktime movies could be thrown together in realbasic in under 5 minutes so maybe it was just pre recorded footage played back on the macs to look like video conferencing. Then again, with the quality of video in quicktime 6, maybe it really was some incredible new app we can look forward to later in the year. If the demos on the apple site are anything to go by. When we're all tuning in to the MWSF 2003 stream all of us with 512Kbps+ connections will be watching it fullscreen with no pixel doubling and DVD quality audio and sound.

Not only that, Alfred used that 20th anniversary to burn a CD with the internal drive. Woulda been cool, but was certainly not an option on the 20th anniversary. I don't think the app was real. Watch Dark Angel and you'll see Logan messing around with a 22inch screen with weird looking programs. Wow, are those new iApps too? Hehe.
And I dare not to watch the Batman and Robin... really really bad movie.... even just to see an Apple placement
