iPhone X X with Blutooth 5.0 and airpods? Would it make the audio sound better ?

Would the X being 5.0 make a 4.0 device work better? like the sound being lossless audio ?

I want to get the Airpods but I don't want it to sound worse than my wired $60 skully candy.

I don't think so. Lossless audio would require an update to the AirPods themselves to make them either support or require Bluetooth 5.0. Would be awesome to see that in 2018, possibly with Apple Music offering ALAC at the same time.
