Is there a reason the MBP has the X1600, and not the X1800? I haven't kept up with mobile graphics lately. I see the X1900 hasn't yet made it into notebooks.

Will the revised MBP (Merom) have a new chipset? How "good" is the X1600? I was using the Mobility 9700 before... (4x AGP)

I'm hoping a 17" Merom MacBook Pro will have a X1800. The Mobility 9700 isn't as good as the X1600 though. It's close though.

Really? Isn't it supposed to be a lot better? X600 series being the first, now X1600...

It's confusing. The series's don't follow each other up like that.

A X300 isn't better than a 9800 Pro, just because it's in the next series.

For instance, the X800 is much better than the X1600. The X800 series ends with the X800, and the X1K Series starts with the X1000/X1300/X1600 and so on.

Since the X800 is the top of it's line, it's better than the "Mid range" card of the next line (X1600).

The 9700 Pro is basicaly the same as the 9800 Pro. It has 8 Pixel Pipelines. The X1600 has 12. The X800 has 16. The X1800 has 16. The X1900 has 48!!

So yeah.... someone correct me if I sound like i'm smoking something.
