so I am running leopard (though I think thats irrelevant) on ym mac pro and I have an XP Home install with bootcamp.

I have the X1900 graphics card which i guess was an upgrade option that I selected when buying my macpro and am running dual monitors.

For some reason XP will only select one monitor as the primary one - and this happens to be the opposite of the one osx uses as the primary. I tried using the "set this as primary" checkbox in display settings in XP but it is greyed out and i googled and found that sometimes you can only change these settings in the ATI control center - which I have donwloaded and installed along with the latest drivers - but I still am unable to set the other monitor as theprimary.

Any ideas?

This issue can be fixed. In Windows, make sure both displays are enabled via Display Settings. Then shutdown. Physically disconnect the DVI/VGA cable from the display you want to be the secondary. Now, restart and boot into Windows.

Windows now only sees the 1 display that is connected and makes it the primary. Verify the Display Settings. Now plug in the video cable to the 2nd display and power on. Windows now detects this display and should keep the other one as the primary.
