Hey everyone. I just installed Windows 7 RC through Parallels on my Macbook, but am unable to find a driver for my x3100 to correctly display the Aero effect. When I tried to turn it on it said the driver was incompatible, so I'm pretty sure that's the problem. Has anyone found one? Nothing is listed on Intel's website (at least that I can find).

Thanks everyone.

Sorry to double post, but after searching the forums I found that the Aero effect isn't supported in Parallels 4.0 - you can only achieve it through boot camp. Is this true, and the reason I'm not able to activate it?

Thanks!

In the Windows world X3100 is known as GMA 965 chipset. Try the drivers for that.

On Intel's website Windows 7 is yet to be supported for the GMA 965 chipset (at least it's not included in the OS drop-down list). Could they currently be included only from within the Windows 7 RC?

Just download the Vista drivers and it should work. Of course, remember to get 32 or 64 bit.

Not to be a broken record, but I tried the 64 bit ones and they failed to install. Any clue? I'll try the 32-bit ones just to make sure I didn't install the 32-bit OS by accident, but I'm pretty sure I picked the later. I wanted to test out Windows on a 64-bit platform.

Thanks for the help so far.

It's not going to work for a virtual machine. Windows 7 RC 1 provides a preliminary WDDM driver for the GMA X3100 otherwise.
