Hey guys,

just wondering if anyone can help me with clear step by step instructions on how to add time capsule as a source for xbmc.

i was successful in jailbreaking, getting xbmc, adding ice films, canada on demand, and some other plug ins.

i know that if i want hulu and some other content i'd need a vpn, so thats a paid service i can do at any time without hastle.

so yeah, basically the only thing i'm missing is the time capsule functionality.

thanks for the help in advance.

I don't think it's possible

I recommend the first alternative.

just can't figure out the user name thing... mine only has a password...

when i went into the airport utility to the disks tab, there's a drop down tab where i can choose accounts, and add an account name that way.

BUT .... my media isnt there :S
(checked via MBP, HAVE NOT BOTHERED trying @ATV2)

thoughts?

So instead of trying the recommended way and then the alternative solution, you're trying to figure out how to use the alternative solution without even incorporating the ATV2 into the equation?

Boot up the ATV2, open XBMC, try the recommended way of adding a share. If that doesn't work, try the alternative solution. If you're still having problems, we'll look into it then.

1. SSH (using Cyberduck or similar) to Apple TV
sftp://frontrow@appletv.local/
(Password: frontrow)

2. Find sources.xml
1st Gen: /mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC/userdata
ATV2: /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/userdata (unable to check)

3. Add source into video section with following XML syntax:
<video>
<source>
<name>Time Capsule</name>
<path>afp://username: password@server.com/share/music/</path>
</source>
</video>

NB: No space before password (this site sees colon p without a space as :p!)

Note:
(i). My Time Capsule is ‘Michael Gill’s Time Capsule’
For me, the username is ‘Michael’ – seems to be the TC's name but only up to first space
(ii). ‘server.com’ can be replaced by IP address

e.g. afp://Michael:****@192.168.0.2/Data/Videos

4. Overwrite sources.xml on TC and enjoy!
