Xbox 360 controller plugged in via USB takes too much power?

I wanted to play some SNES games in an emulator on my 2010 Mac Mini (running 10.6.7), but got an error message once I plugged my Xbox 360 controller in, saying "a connected device is taking too much power" blablabla.

Any suggestions/reasonings on why this happened? This error message has never popped up before.

Btw: I searched the forum before posting. No luck as of yet.

Is it connected to a USB hub or to your wired keyboard?

It was connected directly to the back of the Mac Mini.

I've never heard of an error like that but I doubt its true
