Im going to be living in the dorms for college in a month and im looking for the best way to play xbox 360 on my 27" i3 iMac without having to dish out a lot of money on converters.

There aren't cheaper options. You need an active converter which are all expensive. You can't do it with adapters, etc.

For $150 you can buy a new 24" monitor. I got an Acer 1080p HDMI monitor for $128 the other week.

Anyway welcome to Steve's world. Nothing is cheap.

thanks for the suggestions, the thing is that i don't want to have another monitor to go next to my iMac. It looks like i may just need to buy one of those around $150, hopefully amazon, buy, or ebay might have it a little cheaper

Use the back to school promotion when you buy. You save on the iMac and get a free printer/iPod touch. Sell those and you are 150-200 bucks ahead.

Played some ps3 on a friends 27" w/ the belkin and it was amazing. Worth every penny.

Do the converters work on an apple display, like the new 27 inch or older 24 inch... I'm thinking it's gonna have to go through the MacBook pro? So maybe it's not possible at at least 720p res. But if anyone knows a way that would be great?

Are the late 2010 27-inch iMac still accepting 720p or 1440p inputs only?

For something at this price range you'd think Apple would include a native scaler.
