Xbox controller over USB possible?

Hello,
I was excited about Catalina shipping with support for ps4 and xbox controllers. But it seems that my Xbox One Controller is not recognized at all. It’s not even lighting up. I’m trying to use it in Steam games.

Is it really only possible to connect via Bluetooth? Unfortunately my 2 months old elite controller is still of the pre Bluetooth era.

Any chance to get those running as well or do any of you have experience with 3th party drivers working on Catalina?

This driver worked for Xbox 360 controller and supports Xbox One wired controllers.

Now I have bluetooth Xbox One controller and while in GeForce Now works great, Steam games show it as unrecognised controller and require manual setup in game. Maybe something changed, I tried in while ago.
