Ok, I know this isnt really ATV related (but this seems to be the forum to talk about all things ripping) and from what I have read ATV cannot support a ripped hd or blu ray movie, but I heard that the mac and pac can both recognize the XBOX HD DVD add on. So I thought I would try it and sure enough, the mac sees it, even launches the HD DVD inside with DVD Player, but of course the software cannot play it.

Then onto the PC (Parallels on my Mac), it sees the xbox add on but will not connect to it (says unable to open device/file TOSHIBA DVD/HD X807616) Also, how would you install the software that comes with the add on, there are no executable files on the disk, and its meant to be launched from the xbox.

I kept finding the same article over and over again how someone hacked it (http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2006/11/8303/), with a link to the drivers for the PC, but that link is dead and the articles on every search are from 2006.

Has somebody in all this time not figured out or created software to get the PC/MAC to recognize and play an HD DVD from the XBOX ADD ON?

I know AnyDVD HD just announced today that their software will rip both HD and BLU RAY so I would love to try this out. If anyone knows how to do this on the PC (has to work in Parallels though)(mac would be better, but I can live) do let me know.

I have a HD-DVD addon connected to my iMac and working through VMWare Fusion. Wasn't very difficult to get it working and now I am in the process of ripping and converting some cheap HD DVDs for playback on my PS3.

I think I just followed the guide above to get it working.

Thanks. I tried that, but could not get anything to work. So I installed VMWare and Vista tonight, which I hear has the drivers for the XBOX add on. And after the install was complete, the new hardware wizard found the xbox add on and installed the drivers for it. In the VM Ware settings I see 2 listings for the XBOX HD DVD add on under USB, I select connect and apply, but the system does not recognize the disk. I installed Power DVD Ultra as well for playback but I just cant get this thing to play back. Any ideas for Vista? Man, when is someone gonna make a Mac program for all this??
