It occasionally happened to me that my XDR display won’t wake from sleep. Any one has experienced that ? I have to shut my Mac down. it sometimes requires unplugging and re-plugging the power cable to turn it on. It will happen one in 7-8 times approximately. It's quite annoying with such pricy setup.

I got the Mac Pro 7.1 with vega ii single. 16core cpu and 192GB ram. Mac OS 10.15.5. Display firmware version 3.3.23

I had that on my Trashcan. In my case fixed for good after resetting the SMC.

It becomes more annoying recently that my XDR or mac pro 2019 won't wake once in 4 times. I'm not sure it's the XDR or mac pr 2019 won't wake. disappointing.,..

anyone with the same experience and how you solved?

If you don't know if the computer is awake (is that even possible - is it really that silently and cool running?), check network share availability from another machine to see if its up. To better figure out what's going on set it up so you can ssh into it from another machine and try logging in remotely when it fails to recognize the display.

Might also look into setting it up for screen sharing and test if in such a case you can get into the GUI remotely. I think you might require another Mac to do this unless it uses some universal protocol that other OSes can deal with.

If indeed the display is the issue then it's down to combing the log files for error messages. I find the default Console.app rather confusing for this due to the volume of messages but there are 3rd party logfile analysers that might do a better job.

Lastly you might want to look at which cables you are using there - if it's 3rd party stuff and not the Cupertino-blessed variety then perhaps there's some compatibility/timing on wakeup issue going on.

Wait. So you aren't actually sure if it's the display or the Mac that won't wake up. With that said, what method are you using to wake up the system? Are you (briefly) pressing the power button, moving the mouse, or pressing keys on the keyboard? If you are using the mouse or keyboard to wake the system, are they wireless? Is a USB hub or keyboard switch in the mix?

I'm asking because I periodically have issues with computer wakeup due to the mouse and/or keyboard becoming unrecognized. The solution is annoying, but I simply disconnect/reconnect the peripheral to reregister it.

Periodically I've also had monitor problems. Disconnecting and reconnecting the monitor typically resolves that problem as well. It isn't a fix, but at least it helps diagnose the issue.

If you are using wireless devices, try plugging in a wired mouse and/or keyboard and try that. Also, if you have a second monitor you can plug in (preferably some older version with say a DVI or VGA connection) then connect it and leave it connected. When the system goes to sleep, see if you can wake it up. If the older monitor wakes up but the XDR doesn't then you know the problem is related to the monitor.

Also, +1 on the cables. Even if you think you have decent cables, try switching them out. That goes for not just the display cables, but also USB (if you are using wired devices through a switch or hub).

Oh, and if using a hub, try leaving it out of the setup (or switching to another one). And one more thing. If using some powered peripheral (switch or hub), the wall wart might be going bad, causing power fluctuations that make the device flaky. (Yes, I dealt with that too.)

I hate it when devices "drop out". I've had to deal with the issue over the years, so hopefully these ideas will help you diagnose the problem.
