Anybody seeing mini-led failures? I’ve got a greenish blotch and a bright-white blob on my screen.

(This is on a fifth-generation 12.9” iPad Pro).

Micro-LED is not being used by any current Apple products. The 12.9" iPad Pro uses mini-LED with several thousand LEDs for backlighting. I haven't seen many failures around here, though.

Sorry, I got “micro-led“ from an article I read about it. I’ve corrected it.

I did find a Reddit thread started by a guy who had the same kind of blotch that I have.

Genius bar guy yesterday claimed that special cleaning procedure fixed it. It’s back again today. Just noticed a bright white blob on the far right side. Don’t know if it was there before, and I didn’t notice it.

Another trip to the Genius Bar, with the blotches very visible. This time they agreed to replace it. Dunno how that’s gonna happen, since the 5th-gen 12.9” Pro is no longer offered, especially a maxed-out one like mine. Maybe I luck out and they give me a 6th-gen.

They keep stock of older models for warranty purposes. If it's not available right away in-store, they can still get one shipped so you may just need to wait a few days.

This.
I got my iPP 10.5 with white spot issues replaced by Apple with brand-new looking refurb in spring 2021, long after 10.5 was phased out and not for sale by Apple or even local dealers anymore.
I sold it right away with still about one month of warranty left.
If I were you, I would probably do the same, granted you can sell it for good price.
Hopefully miniLED's wont start to fail after 3-4 years of use, in that case, ouch, expensive paperweight which I have gambled on by buying 12.9 model in 2021.

I had two blotches on my screen 3 months after I purchased my iPad Pro 12.9 Mini LED in 2021. I took it to the Apple store and they replaced it right away after running a few tests. The replacement has been working flawlessly.

Replacement came in yesterday, two days after Genius agreed to a replacement. It’s a fifth gen 2TB, exactly like the defective unit. Restore from iCloud finished this morning. So far, battery seems much better than the replaced iPad.

My Ipad Pro 12.9 5th generation also started to have the exact same problem as you today... My warranty is expired but I will take it to an apple store and hope they will be able to do something for me.

This is the exact situation I wanted to avoid when I opted for Applecare+ when I purchased my 12.9 5th gen. After seeing the out of warranty replacement cost it was an easy decision...

I hope you live somewhere with Consumer Law coverage (i.e. not in USA) :/
