Hello guys, I have a 6790 that I decided to try in my Mac Pro 1,1. I know, I know.
Anyway, for some odd reason, the monitor/card aren't properly being detected. I have a GT210 in the top slot for troubleshooting. I launched the expansion slot utility and the bottom slot is being reported as an 'ATI VGA-Compatible Controller Card'. What could be wrong? I was told this should work OOB. Thanks guys!

EDIT numero uno:
I am 'resetting' the PCI configuration with the slot utility.
If that doesn't work, gonna remove and reinsert.

Specs:
MacPro1,1, 2006.
OS X Yosemite
7GB of RAM

Still not working, Might move it to a different slot. I've tried a PRAM/SMC reset to no avail.
EDIT:
The original card seems to work fine in the first slot (fastest). Booting to see if the ATI is detected in another slot.
Changing slots didn't fix anything. Trying a really hacky kext way.

Small 'win', the kext hack (adding my product ID to the AMD6000Controller.kext) allowed the monitor to display picture, but its acting super slow. Might be due to the original I placed in it, booting without to see if its truly working.
EDIT: No Acceleration, similar issue with my mackintosh with this card. Lets see if Clover still loves me.

Trying another injection option, this might work.

If this doesn't work, I'll end up resorting to my old card, unless anyone chimes in here.

I have got it working splendidly. If anyone cares, all you do is replace an ID with your GFX's card's Id in AMD6000Controller.kext/AMDX3000Accelerator.kext
