Do some research on tonymacx86.com. There's several forum discussions about the radon 6xxx series in Lion. Here's one such post where a member mentions how he got his 6870 working right: http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=64103&p=400568&hilit=6970#p400568

CAUTION: it's a forum meant for hackintosh support, but being that they only allow "vanilla" builds its a reputable site for info. BUT please do a little research and make sure you're comfortable installing "experimental" fixes. FYI I believe the 6xxx support is getting better with some framework included in the new Retina MBP. Basically it's like Apple tossed in support for new gpu's that aren't necessarily being used by Apple configs yet.

That's what I have on my Hackintosh. The Cinebench score under Mac OS X is only 43.9fps. I get 79 fps under Windows.

Thank you very much and honestly to keep using the 1,1 it basically becomes a hackintosh to proceed on updates sadly

The right strings for my XFX ATI RADEON 6870 were AtiPorts=5 and AtiConfig=Duckweed

This may be helpful to him, but which file is he going to be editing the strings in? In com.apple.boot.plist?

To make the thread useful for others can you elaborate more?

org.chameleon.Boot.plist

Code:
<key>AtiConfig</key>
	<string>Duckweed</string><key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
	<string>AtiPorts</string>
	<key>5</key>

Here's my Cinebench under Lion. As you can see it misidentifies my card as "Ati Radeon Barts XT Prototype" for some reason but it performs flawlessly.

Here for comparison is our 2011 iMac i5's Cinebench:
