XP Install can't see Bootcamp Partition

I've created a 32GB partition in Bootcamp and started the Windows install, I get to the step where I have to choose a partition and all I see is a single drive.

I've retried the install process, and I've erased the partition and created a new one and started again... all with the same outcome.

I have only just recently gotten rid of a working Windows partition because I wanted a fresh install. I don't see why it isn't working this time. So now I've got plenty of backup files and no where to use them.

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated.

That's easy! If you are installing XP, that CD doesn't have support for your SATA HDD. Try getting a newer one or a Vista DVD (that has SATA support).

I'm planning to do the same with my new MBP (late 2008). I've heard of the lack of SATA support for XP but completely forgot about it until now (thanks for the reminder, dtk). Does that mean I won't be able to install XP 32-bit in Boot Camp? I have the XP Pro w/ SP2 CD. It seems that others have done it though.

Ahh, thank you! Finally a reason that makes sense.

Ok, well my mate has an XP Home SP2 disc that came with his laptop that he never used, so I'll give that a try and report back here.

I did have it running a while back, but obviously the XP disc that I have at home right now isn't the same one I used when I first got my Macbook.

EDIT: The other XP install worked fine. Must of been the SATA issue.
