As long as your Windows install does not need to login to a Windows domain. XP Home does not support domain login.

There are many other differences between HE and Pro. He does not support IIS, SNMP, Active Directory, etc. But many of the unsupported features may not be an issue if the primary need is to simply run Windows programs. One question I have is how HE works with dual core processors? HE does not support multiprocessing (single processor only). So, do you effectively halve the processing power of your multi-core machine?

Sorry slicedbread - Your post came in while I was writing.

Here and there!
XP Home Edition limits the processors by socket rather than by core - so, while an iMac would be able to use all of its processing power, a Mac Pro would be limited to a single CPU, or two cores.

Thanks for the explanation! I had wondered about that, but never had enough time (did not effect me) to research the answer.
