Will the sim-free be in demand?

Why wouldn't it be in demand? The only reason I can think of is if it cost more (let's say $100). Will the sim-free version have a sim slot? I'm thinking international travel. How would I switch over to whatever country I'm in?

It'll have a SIM slot. It just won't come with a SIM card. Just take your current SIM and pop it in. When you travel, pop out your current SIM and put in a local SIM.

If you want the dual SIM benefits, I would imagine that you would have your primary carrier assign you an eSIM which you would "type" into the iPhone Xs. Then when you travel, you'd pop in a local SIM in the physical slot.

The cost $1449 for the 512GB might sway people, therefore not so much in demand compared to other options. I wish we got the dual sim model here in the USA.

Isn't the dual sim for China only? I need to go to the Apple site to clarify this.

Maybe, but Apple has a decent grip on forecasting demand for the various models. So while the demand for the 512GB Max might be lower than the 64GB Xs, the supply for the 512Max will be may be lower as well.

So you'll probably have the same hard time finding it.

The non-China Xs/Max will have an eSIM in addition to a nanoSIM. So it's dual-SIM, but only one physical slot.

In the keynote, they mention that for China, they can't use eSIM, so they made a clever dual-SIM holder.

Dual SIM feature is in all iPhones XS/Max.

However only the China version has the proper physical dual SIM capability, while the rest have Physical SIM + eSIM, which is IMO the worst.
