Evening, I have a strange issue with an Xs Max 256gb running latest os.
Basically i was listening to some music a few days ago via some BOSE wireless headphones. The headphones just said ‘iphone disconnected’ so i went to the room the phone was in to find it had shut down (presumably dead battery) as i knew it was around 20%.
The long and short of it is it wouldn't turn back on no matter what i did.. force restart (volume up, volume down the hold side button), plugged into macbook and left in a charger for hours. Each time just a blank black screen as if the device is turned off.
24 hours later, presumably after the residual charge in the battery had depleted it showed the plug in battery image prompting me to charge, which i did. I had called apple the day before for diagnostic support and no suggestions worked, but as soon as the phone came i instantly called apple back and got them to run a remote diagnostics which came back all functioning fine with a battery of 91% running at peak capability. What i did notice was that although it was off, icloud showed that a back-up was completed at 0130hrs when it was supposedly off.
About 40 mins later it had again turned itself off.
As before i had to wait 24 or so hours for the phone to completely die and again it showed the charge / battery symbol. Remember as i said, no force restart / button combination worked. This time i managed to wipe it, use the ‘itunes restore button’ again to factory defaults and it seemed to run ok until i decided to do a forced restart to put the phone into dfu mode.
At this point the phone was once again non responsive. Nothing works, cant reboot etc so will have to wait for the battery to completely die again.
The phone is 15 months old, no signs of damage, screen protected and cased since new.
Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions are totally stuck which during a national lock down is a real problem.
Its almost as if the phone just does not want to restart / boot and something prevents it until the battery is totally dead which then allows it until theres charge and you try restart again. 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks guys
