So I just watched the Apple Developer video on the XS Max. And I was kind of shocked to see that split views in landscape require you to swipe the left menu into view. Seriously? This phone is massive, and in landscape there is so much available space on the horizontal. Yet they aren't displaying apps in a split view by default?
This is literally the only reason I would consider upgrading to a Max, and the only thing I miss from moving from a 7 Plus to the X - being able to see my list of emails/messages next to a full view, without having to swipe/tap an extra time for every single email/message.
Definitely sticking to my X, hopefully Apple changes their mind and fixes this in software over the next few months.
