Other XS Max iOS applications

I haven't seen this being discussed already.

Will all the iPhone Plus applications need to be updated in order for them to work on the XS Max properly? Meaning we'll have the same situation with the black bars on top and bottom as we did for a long time with the X last year?

Or will they (in the beginning) just scale the X-size applications and the just won't use landscape mode until devs update them.

It depends on the Xcode version the apps were built with. Apps that were built with Xcode 9 (i.e. targeting iOS 11) is simply zoomed to fill the larger screen.

Apps built with Xcode 10 should have native support for the max screen.
