I noticed that the phone would switch to LTE if I leave the phone screen off for like 10 minutes and once I wake the phone(it shows the LTE symbol) and then and switches back to wifi. Its is not on low power mode or anything like that.

Is this normal behavior for iOS? I recently switched from Android so I have no idea.

Usually that’s a function of the wireless router. It happens in almost every hotel I stay in. (They do it to keep the load on the router down/bandwidth for active users) But at home I “think” it doesn’t happen. I’m using an AirPort Extreme at home. Hope that helps

Basically something that pretty much all iPhones have always been doing.

It might be one of these:
1. Are you in a hotel? If so, it might be the network settings from the hotel that kick you out to save on their own data use.
2. This is the one not everybody knows: Go to settings > settings > (scroll aaaaaallll the way down, below the apps) > Wifi-assist.

If the wifi quality is bad, the iPhone will automatically switch to cellular. When turned off, it will keep trying to use the wifi network.
